Stepney Western: Newcastle Contemporary Art

Stepney Western, Image by Harry Lawson

Swing by Newcastle Contemporary Art this spring to catch their new exhibition Stepney Western.

An exhibition of two parts, it features screenings of locally-based artist and filmmaker Harry Lawson's new film Stepney Western - an experimental documentary made in collaboration with young inner city horse riders from Stepney Bank Stables that recasts Byker as the Wild West - and archival photography from the likes of Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen, Tish Murtha, Richard Blosse and Henri Cartier-Bresson.

The exhibition is also supplemented by a public programme of free events - a Stepney Western archive/Byker Phoenix launch, a Stepney Western printmaking workshop and a Stepney Western art trail.
