Be transported to a striking version of Camelot with our screening of director John Boorman’s classic film Excalibur (1981), in the Great Hall of Newcastle’s Castle Keep.
All the elements of the legend are here in what is thought of by many to be the definitive version of the legend: Arthur (Nigel Terry) removing the sword from the stone; the Knights of the Round Table; the unpredictable wizard Merlin (Nicol Williamson) and evil sorceress Morgana (Helen Mirren). Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne and Liam Neeson also appear in notable early screen roles.
