Unassuming from the outside, the doors of 55 Westgate Road hide an architectural gem that plays an important role in both Newcastle's past and present.
From a seat of civic power in the 17th century to its transformation into an Assembly House in the early 18th century, 55 Westgate Road has played many roles in its varied history.
Now undergoing extensive renovations in conjunction with Newcastle Arts Centre to restore the building to its former glory, 55 Westgate Road will soon reopen with residential and public spaces and a programme of exciting events.
