As Newcastle’s premier shopping destination, Eldon Square is always evolving.
Millions of shoppers grab treats and bargains at its dizzying array of outlets, and over the last few months there’s been a whole host of newbies making the centre their home. Get to know who’s new to Eldon Square and get your next shop 'til you drop session planned.
Sephora
Makeup mavens jumped for joy when Sephora finally opened its doors in Eldon Square last September after a massive amount of hype. Dubbing itself a “beauty playground”, the store stocks a huge range of brands – from Glow Recipe and Glossier to Charlotte Tilbury and Chanel – and its talented beauty advisors offer treatments including make up looks, eyebrow tinting and personalised skin care routines for anyone in need of a glow up.
Søstrene Grene
As summer 2024 came to a close, Denmark-born brand Søstrene Grene arrived in Eldon Square and brought a touch of Scandi-chic to the Toon. Specialising in furniture, textiles, kitchenware and home accessories that evoke “hygge” – a Danish concept that embodies cosiness – the store is perfect for picking up stylish yet affordable items to give your home a gorgeous makeover.
5G Immersive Lab
Eldon Square isn’t just about shopping ‘til you drop and the 5G Immersive Lab is proof. The brainchild of deep tech innovation organisation Digital Catapult, it’s a state-of-the-art space where SMEs (small to medium sized enterprises) can explore the adoption of 5G and immersive technologies like virtual reality. Boasting co-working spaces, meeting rooms, event spaces and hand-on tech workshops, the lab aims to inspire innovation, productivity and growth in local businesses.
Bubbleology
Shopping can, of course, be thirsty work but brand-new kiosk Bubbleology is now at Eldon Square to keep you quenched and refreshed with their range of milk and fruit bubble teas. There’s a flavour to suit every palate – from passionfruit and pomegranate to banoffee pie and the indulgently chocolatey Bobatella – plus the option to customise their bubble teas to your liking. Delicious!
Avon
Ding dong, Avon calling! The long-established beauty brand opened a brick-and-mortar kiosk in Eldon Square in late November last year and now its fans can try their popular products before they buy. From makeup and perfume to skincare products, it’s a treasure trove of Avon goodies and its expert staff offer services including skin consultations, shade matching and mini makeovers too.
Hotel Chocolate Velvetiser Café
Hotel Chocolat’s velvetisers are all the rage but if you’re not lucky enough to have one at home, then fear not because Eldon Square recently welcomed a café dedicated to serving velvetiser drinks. Available hot, over ice or as a choc shake, they can be customised with different toppings and flavour combinations plus a choice of dairy milk or plant-based alternatives. The café also sells a select range of Hotel Chocolat products so you can shop for your faves as you sip too!
MINISO
The home of all things cute, kitsch and quirky, MINISO joined Eldon Square late last summer, setting up shop a few doors down from fellow new arrival Søstrene Grene. It's positively packed to the rafters with homeware, tech, toys, accessories, beauty products and stationery in a range of cute themes including Hello Kitty, Care Bears, Disney and Pokemon and perfect for picking up fun gifts for friends and family.
Wingstop
Listen up, chicken wing lovers! Monday 10th February – put the date in your diaries because American chain Wingstop is joining the Grey’s Quarter community of restaurants! Their signature wings, boneless wings and chicken tenders are clucking delicious and available in 10 bold flavours ranging from the sweet and tangy Hawaiian to the super-spicy Atomic and perfect paired with their loaded fries, a refreshing milkshake and some churros for dessert. There’s more good news too – to celebrate their grand opening on 10th February, Wingstop are giving away a portion of eight tasty chicken wings to the first 100 people in the queue – see you there?
