Aside from some iconic landscapes, an above average number of Greggs shops and a certain celebrity duo called Ant & Dec – Newcastle prides itself on nightlife.

Our gorgeous city doesn’t slow down, with clubs and bars to suit every music taste… all without breaking the student budget! So whether you’re a know-it-all for indie, or think there’s nothing better than the beat of house music, there’s a place in the Toon for you.

Monday

Oops! @ Greys Club

Been convinced to go out on a Monday? Happens to the best of us! Make Oops! at Greys Club your first stop. With everything from R&B to club classics, and themed nights to look out for, it’s a pretty good way to kickstart your week.

Tropiloco @ ChachaBuchi, The Social Club & Howlers

From Balearic beats to high-energy hits, Tropiloco takes over this trio of Collingwood Street venues every Monday night – and there really is something for everyone here with six rooms of different genres in total.

Tuesday

Lovedough @ Tup Tup Palace

Bringing everything R&B to Newcastle, Tup Tup Palace has its grand reopening this month after its biggest refurbishment – so it’s worth getting yourself down there regardless! But if you want to dance the night away to the likes of Rhianna, Drake and Cardi-B, then this is the place to be.

Blur @ Bohemia

New for 2024 (launching on the 17th September, in fact!), Blur at Bohemia is the perfect music mix, with one room blaring house party anthems, and the other prioritizing indie pop on the decks. With £2 tickets and £3.95 doubles, what’s not to love?

Skint at The Points Skint at The Points

Wednesday

Soho Wednesdays @ Soho Rooms

Wednesday nights belong to the sports societies – and Soho! Running throughout the semester, they’re the perfect way to get the team together, whether you’ve won the big match of the season, or you’ve just finished training.

Thursday

Skint @ The Points

Feeling the strain of the student budget? Not to worry, Skint at The Points has you covered. With £1 early bird tickets and £1 drinks, there’s no need to break the bank for a good night out on the Toon.

Rebel Thursdays @ TheCUT

For all your favourite indie and rock’n’roll anthems on a Thursday night, look no further than Rebel Thursdays at TheCUT! They’ll be putting everything from local legend Sam Fender to old-school Oasis classics on the speakers, so there’s no excuse not to get out on the dancefloor.

Friday

Koda Fridays @ Greys Club

Since launching onto Newcastle’s club scene earlier this year, KODA Newcastle has gained firm favour amongst the city’s students – and it’s easy to see why. With five rooms of music spanning disco, UKG, house, jungle and anthems, you’re guaranteed a good time. Keep an eye out on social media for updates from this Newcastle newbie…

Paradiso @ Tup Tup Palace

Whisking you away from the chill of winter in Newcastle to the sunny beats of R&B, hip-hop, Latino and reggaeton tunes, Paradiso is a guaranteed good time. Oh, and that’s not forgetting the fantastic drinks deals on offer too!

Saturday

Atomic @ TheCUT

Only a couple of years on since its initial launch, Atomic at TheCUT has become a firm staple of Newcastle nightlife. Indie disco is the priority here with Sean Tyrala on the decks until 3am.

Saturday Club Soho @ Soho Rooms

With four floors of non-stop tunes, you’ll be hard pressed to find a genre you don’t like in Soho Rooms on a Saturday night. From disco and house, to R&B and cheesy sing-along hits, the ice will be well and truly thawed here with your new flatmates.

Paradiso at Tup Tup Palace Paradiso at Tup Tup Palace

Sunday

Persistence @ Tup Tup Palace

Some people prefer to slow down on a Sunday… Newcastle’s nightlife takes it up a notch instead! Persistence has been at the heart of the city centre for the past twelve years, and this freshers season promises to be no exception, taking over Tup Tup with its house, groove, disco and rap classics.

Vibe @ Flares

With free entry and plenty of drinks deals to go around, Vibe at Flares is your go-to for cheesy anthems and party classics across the decades on Sundays. Bonus points from us if you go wearing actual flares.

Fancy something different?

The Empress, Side

The Empress Bar has some fantastic offers you’ll want to take advantage of throughout the week too. Every Friday and Saturday, grab the £10 round (two large Smirnoff and mixers, as well as two Skittle Bombs) with your student card. Alternatively, you a fiver gets you two Trebs here every Sunday – while £1.50 shots are on offer too. And who could say no to kickstarting the night with a good deal!

The Dog & Parrot, Clayton Street West

This independent bar in the heart of Newcastle is a student staple for a reason. From stellar drinks deals to a delicious menu dished up by Meat:Stack – it’s pretty hard not to love it.

The Hancock, Hancock Street

A stones throw from both Northumbria and Newcastle university campuses, you’ll find The Hancock. There’s a relaxed vibe here, but don’t let that put you off – when the sports on and the sun’s out, things get busy! Inside though, there’s plenty of pints to pick from, pool tables to enjoy, and some smashing offers too.

The WonderBar, The Gate

Whether you’re after food, drinks or entertainment – The WonderBar has pretty much everything you’ll need to get the party started. Think £5 drinks from Friday to Saturday, as well as £2.99 pizzas all day on Wednesday – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Be At One, Westgate Road

The folks at Be At One know that studying is thirsty work, so they’re serving up delicious cocktails for just £6 each every day for students. It’s a pretty good study break, if you ask us.

So if you're into house or hip-hop, rock or rap, there's no shortage of night's out in Newcastle to enjoy - and every day of the week too! Need a hand with the more practical stuff? Don't forget to check out our guide to getting set up in the city too.
