Café Mercy, Grey Street
The latest concept from popular Newcastle bar brand Mother Mercy, Café Mercy recently took over the gorgeous Grey Street space formerly occupied by Dacantus. Head there to sip on Mediterranean-inspired cocktails and spritzes teamed with tasty sharing dishes – think charcuterie, cheese boards, antipasti and the like.
Garms, Grainger Street
Get your thrift on at Garms – a brand-new vintage store that’s set up shop on Grainger Street. Vintage streetwear and sneakers are their speciality with a range of quality, pre-loved brands including the likes of Nike, Stussy and Burberry. Better yet, the Garms team are constantly sourcing new vintage items so shoppers are guaranteed new finds with every visit.

Cinnabon, Grainger Street
Since arriving on Grainger Street this summer, American bakery chain Cinnabon has been taking the Toon by storm with its addictively delicious treats. A must-do for anyone with a sweet tooth, head there to try their world-famous cinnamon rolls available in flavours like classic, chocolate, pecan and Lotus Biscoff.

Rituals, Eldon Square
Luxury beauty brand Rituals arrived in Eldon Square in the summer of 2023 and is the perfect destination for a spot of self-indulgence. Cantina, Sandhill
Veggie and vegan lovers of Mexican food, assemble! You may have already come across a Cantina stall at a local food festival, but now the plant-based taqueria has set up a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Sandhill. Feast on tacos and tortas washed down with tequila and cocktails and don’t miss out on their chilaquiles brunch served on Sundays.

A cosy spot bound to become a favourite local haunt, Tickets recently (and befittingly) opened in The Old Ticket Office on Neville Street. The gorgeous Victorian-era building has been lovingly restored and boasts original features complimented by train station-inspired artwork that pays homage to its past – a perfectly cosy space ideal for sampling Tickets’ carefully crafted cocktails, beers and wine.
Native Cave, Mosley Street
For local foodies looking for something a little different in Newcastle, Native Cave is the place to be. A newcomer to Mosley Street, the restaurant and bar dishes up good vibes and great food with an African-Caribbean twist. Fish and grilled meat is their thing with tasty dishes jerk chicken, grilled tilapia and seafood boils teamed with wines, spirits and cocktails.
