February 2025: 10 Unmissable Events in Newcastle
Our monthly round-up of city centre events returns for February
Heart-shaped chocolates are filling shop shelves, we’ve got the post-Restaurant Week blues, and the evenings are just starting to get lighter… yep, it’s February!
If you’re feeling romantic, then the Hancock’s “We Love to Ceilidh” might be for you – but there’s plenty more events you’ll fall in love with this month too. From Lunar New Year celebrations to the MOBO Awards, it’s enough to make anyone melt a little.
Lunar New Year @ Newcastle City Centre
Commemorating the year of the snake, Newcastle’s Lunar New Year celebrations return to the city centre this month! The festivities will all be kicking off at Bath Lane from 11am with food vendors, stalls, arts and crafts, and fairground rides. At 11:30am, you’ll be able to catch the epic Lunar New Year parade as it weaves through the city from Grey’s Monument back to Chinatown, where Lion dances, Dragon dances, martial art displays and firecrackers will take over the street. All the performances and activities are free, and there’s plenty for the kids to see and do, so bring the family along! Find our more with our guide to Newcastle's Lunar New Year celebrations.

MOBO Awards @ Utilita Arena
We’re hugely proud that the Utilita Arena will be playing host to the MOBO Awards this month. This year, Cleo Sol, Duppy, Little Simz and Ghetts are just some of the incredibly talented artists nominated, and you could be in the room when the winners are announced! In the lead-up to the big day, the MOBO Fringe will be electrifying the city with a series of performances, panels and workshops – including the MOBO Black Music Summit and live performances at World HQ. We've put together a handy guide to the 2025 MOBO Awards so you don't miss out.
