Oktoberfest Newcastle 2023 Announces Unforgettable Entertainment, Food Vendors and Exciting Record-Breaking Competitions
As they gear up for the fifth annual Oktoberfest, TwoTribes, the team behind the hugely popular Oktoberfest Newcastle is ready to deliver an unforgettable experience filled with beer, entertainment, and authentic Bavarian culture from October 13th to October 28th, 2023.
Oktoberfest Newcastle promises an unparalleled Bavarian-themed party, with a tent that can accommodate thousands of revellers every weekend. The venue will be transformed into a traditional German marquee adorned with blue and white checkered tablecloths, where you can enjoy the best oompah bands from across Europe, authentic German beers, and delectable Bavarian cuisine.
In the true spirit of Bavarian tradition, the event is introducing some epic challenges to break the ultimate Oktoberfest records! Guests can participate in a Sausage-Eating competition where participants will aim to devour as many sausages as possible as quickly as they can. World Champion Joey Chestnut holds the title of ‘hot dog-eating world champion’ after setting a new world record of 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes in 2021.
As guests immerse themselves in the spirit of the German festivities, they'll also have the chance to witness or participate in Oktoberfest Newcastle's exhilarating Jug-Carrying competition. The goal is to break the current record for carrying the most Steins over a 40-meter distance, which currently stands at a staggering 29 jugs. Those with tickets can prepare to be entertained by some of the best touring brass bands, including, the New York Brass Band, renowned for rocking weddings, festivals and sports events. The New York Brass Band has played all over the UK and Europe including Glastonbury Festival and Paradiso Amsterdam, as well as entertaining celebrities like McFly’s Danny Jones, Jamie Oliver, Liam Gallagher, Ellie Goulding and even Manchester City FC.
The Brooklyn Brass Band, a seven-piece funk brass band from Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Oompah, an authentic German oompah band, are some other groups which will be entertaining goers of Oktoberfest Newcastle 2023, alongside DJs Adam Vern and Jack Taylor to keep the party going all month.
Geordie Wurst Kitchen is back for those who like to indulge in mouth-watering German treats, offering crowd-pleasing Donner, chilli, and Geordie-Wurst options, including vegetarian and vegan versions too. New to this year's celebrations will be the ‘Why Aye Fries’ - German-loaded fries with a Geordie twist!
