Mother Mercy's Finest Afternoon Tea Swaps Sandwiches for Cocktails and Cake at Fenwick

Afternoon Tea is not all about scones and sandwiches. In Mother Mercy’s case, it can also be a delightful celebration of cocktails and cakes.

The highly acclaimed and award-winning UK ‘Top 50 cocktail bar’, Mother Mercy, has reinterpreted the traditional afternoon tea experience. Gone are the tiny finger sandwiches and scones, replaced with elegant cakes paired with creative cocktails.

Located on the ground floor of Fenwick Newcastle, Mother Mercy continues to set the bar high with its renowned 'Cocktails & Cake’ Afternoon Tea. The experience focuses on indulging in the finest ingredients and savouring the most exceptional cocktails whilst presenting a creative twist on ‘traditional’ afternoon tea. The menu is inspired by tea and punch and celebrates exquisite presentation and delightful flavours with the cocktails served in teapots.

Priced at £50 for two people to share over 90 minutes, the experience makes for an elegant and delightful treat, perfect for complementing a busy day of shopping.

Neil Donnachie, Co-founder of Mother Mercy, told us, “Our Mother Mercy at Fenwick has quickly become a favourite among both locals and visitors seeking a distinctive way to experience our cocktails. We’ve reimagined the traditional afternoon tea with a sophisticated twist, offering an elegant setting where guests can savour our unique cocktails and delightful cakes. It’s a perfect blend of indulgence and refinement that enhances any day, whether you’re enjoying a shopping trip or celebrating a special occasion."

Carefully crafted by Mother Mercy's award-winning mixologists and Mason + Rye's pastry chefs, the menu comprises decadent treats and premium cocktails that embrace the theme of tea and punch with prosecco on the side.

  • Raspberry & Rose Punch: Hepple gin, raspberry, peach, rose
  • Sunburnt Punch: Absolut vodka, strawberry, Champagne cordial, coconut

The cakes include:
