Dickens by Candlelight: A Christmas Carol Sells Out Across All 25 Shows for the Third Consecutive Year!

For a third year in a row, Niltoni Productions’ Dickens by Candlelight: A Christmas Carol has sold out across all its 25 shows, captivating audiences once again with its enchanting, immersive experience. Due to unprecedented demand, the producers are thrilled to announce the addition of six extra matinee performances on December 7,8, 14, 15, and 21, 22. This exceptional production, following the near sell-out run of Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus at Newcastle Castle Keep (Running until Friday, 15 November), brings together the renowned creative team of director Jake Murray and writer Craig Wilde, known for their recent adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic.

Set in the atmospheric, Grade I listed Alderman Fenwick's House, one of Newcastle’s most storied locations, this intimate adaptation brings Charles Dickens’ beloved story to life in an authentic Victorian setting. With a cast of acclaimed local actors, including Will Sutherland and Louise Dearden, reprising their roles from last year and joined by award-winning actor Jamie Brown (Hadaway Harry, Othello), audiences can expect an unforgettable journey through Scrooge’s transformation amidst flickering candlelight and period décor.

A Critically Acclaimed Production in a Historic Setting

Directed by Jake Murray, whose body of work includes celebrated productions like Othello, The Reivers, and Macbeth, this adaptation captures the essence of Dickens’ timeless tale with a fresh and faithful approach. Writer Craig Wilde's adaptation pulls audiences into the heart of the story, creating a profound connection with Scrooge’s journey in an environment that feels almost like stepping back in time.

Alderman Fenwick's House, where Dickens himself once entertained, serves as a remarkable backdrop, with its rich history adding layers of authenticity to the performance. Seating only 48 guests per show, the setting provides an immersive and uniquely personal experience for each attendee.

Additional Performances Available for Limited Time Only

With all 25 initial performances now sold out, the added matinee shows present a rare chance for those who missed tickets. Early booking is strongly recommended, as these additional performances are expected to sell quickly. Tickets are priced at £34.50, with concessions available at £28.50 (plus booking fees).
