Leftfield - Live From Times Square: Times Square
This Event has passed
Take a trip back to the 90’s as one of Britain’s best dance acts arrive at Times Square in the city centre. Having reformed in 2010 with founding member Neil Barnes back on board, Leftfield will be performing their 1995 debut album Leftism in full. The event will be celebrating the 22nd anniversary of their revolutionary debut, which upon it's release changed the face of dance music forever, being one of the first of its kind to bring the club experience into the living room. Completely unhindered by the confines of genre, Leftfield's intrigue came from an astounding ability to span genres from tribal, trance, dub, house and ambient styles. Leftism stands as a beacon of this eclecticism, with guest spots from artists far removed from the dance music world such as sex pistols' John Lydon and the curves' Toni Halliday. The Mercury Music Prize nominated album was described by Q Magazine as 'the first truly complete album experience to be created by house musicians and the first quintessentially British one".
The tour looks set to be a farewell to the album, with Barnes saying 'it just seems like a good time to say “bon voyage” to leftism. I'm not really going to be playing these songs much more.' Catch it while you still can!
