Its very rare these days that you come across a group of great musicians who simply want to play exciting original music and not become famous for 15 minutes at whatever the cost.
The Smokin Spitfires are one of these rarities although to a certain degree most of the guys in the band have been stars in one way or another but generally in the background making other people sound good!. Individually and collectively they have worked with Ray Charles, Jimmy James, David Coverdale, John Miles, plus a host of other famous names making a long list of artists who respect the members of the Spitfires as exceptional musicians with huge talent.
Most if not all the guys have been regularly called upon for T.V. Radio and recording sessions over the years which confirms the high calibre of musicianship within the band.
As the Smokin Spitfires (formerly the Eastside Torpedoes) the band has played consistently for a number of years all over the UK at festivals (Knebworth), major venues (City Hall, Newcastle) have had a TV special recorded on the band and are regularly hailed as the most popular band to come out of the North East since the Animals.
Playing mainly songs composed by the lead singer - some of which have been record of the week on various radio stations and performed by other artists they are one of the very few groups to perform their own music regularly but can also throw in a couple of sets of covers if required.
