Celebrate Chinese New Year in Newcastle with a whole host of fun taking place on and around Stowell Street on Sunday 22nd January!
Head to Bath Lane where an array of stalls will be serving up delicious Chinese food and selling arts, crafts and Chinese health products. There'll also be a Children's Marquee offering kid-friendly arts and crafts sessions including lantern-making and calligraphy, plus a funfair with rides, games, trampolines and an inflatable slide.
Of course, it wouldn't be Chinese New Year without a traditional dance procession and this year there'll be three - the Lion, the Dragon and the Unicorn dances! Check out the dance procession timetable below:
11:45am: The Lion troupe will depart from Fujiyama on Bath Lane for the Chinese Arch.
11:45am - 12pm: Chinese University students perform songs at the Arch
12pm - 12:10pm: The Unicorn troupe will perform their dance and depart to Bath Lane
12:10pm - 12:20pm: The Dragon troupe will perform their dance and depart
12:20pm - 12:35pm: The Lion troupe will dance and give demonstrations of Kung-Fu in the sterile area under the Chinese Arch where firecrackers will be set off in the sterile area during the dance.
12:35pm: The Unicorn troupe will commence dance procession on Bath Lane at Hana Hana
12:40pm: The Unicorn troupe will perform in the sterile area in front of Fujiyama
1pm: The Lion troupe commences dance progressing down Stowell Street
1:30pm - 1:45pm: Chinese University Students perform songs in sterile area at Fujiyama
The festivities are completely free to attend and offer fun for all the family, so get yourself down to Chinatown on 22nd January and ring in the Chinese New Year!
