Celebrating Ridley Place | Get Into Newcastle

1 minute

Located in the heart of the city's retail core, Ridley Place has been undergoing work over the past year to transform the space, and to create an improved and distinctive destination.

Join us on Saturday 23rd September to celebrate the gorgeous Ridley Place and enjoy the best that the street has to offer with a day of entertainment, performances, and activities, with something for everyone!

Located in the heart of the city's retail core, Ridley Place has been undergoing work over the past year to transform the space, and to create an improved and distinctive destination.

The street has been fully repaved and new bespoke furniture and planters installed. There are also new trees, plants and greenery, creating a more relaxed environment, as well as a mural on an exposed wall at one end, plus new lighting.

To celebrate a new era for Ridley Place, Newcastle City Council, NE1 and businesses on the street are coming together for this celebration event, so join us and take in the new surroundings!

From 11am - 4pm, there will be bands performing on a stage at one end, with performers including stilt walkers and a brass band moving up and down the street throughout the day. On top of this, we'll be welcoming the businesses of Ridley Place out into the street to show you what they do, including Zapatista, Dough Daze, and Deli Churros. There will also be facepainting and crafts for kids to get involved with, all for free.

Mark it in your diaries and spend a September Saturday browsing one of the first streets to be finished as part of the ongoing City Centre Transformation Programme.
