Radio 6 Music Festival 2015

BBC Radio 6 Music Festival 2015 will take place on Tyneside on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February with an incredible line-up of artists including: Sleater-Kinney, Mogwai, The War on Drugs, Interpol, The Fall, Hot Chip, Royal Blood, Kate Tempest, The Charlatans, Gaz Coombes, British Sea Power, Jon Hopkins, Maximo Park, Neneh Cherry, Young Fathers, Jungle, Jamie T, Gruff Rhys and many more set to perform by night at the three day event. Gigs will be on each night: Friday 20 February at The 02 Academy Newcastle and at The Sage, Gateshead on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February. With over 40 artists and DJs across six stages over three nights, the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival is bringing together an impressive line-up of established acts and emerging artists who represent the very best alternative music of the moment. Additionally, there will be a 6 Music Festival by Day (which will be ticketed separately to the night-time events) in venues in The Ouseburn and Stephenson Quarter areas of the city, on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, 11am-6pm. And in her show on Saturday 31 January, Mary Anne Hobbs will announce a line-up of DJs performing at 6 Music Festival Late, an after-hours night on Saturday 21February, from 10pm-2am, at The Boiler Shop in Newcastle. Whilst the events will be attended by thousands of people, those at home wont miss out. BBC Radio 6 Music will be broadcasting from the festival across the weekend from Friday 21 February with the networks presenters coming live from all the venues, day and night. The station will air many of the performances live from The 02 Academy Newcastle and The Sage Gateshead, with others recorded and aired in shows later in the week and on future dates. There will also be highlights to watch across the weekend via BBC Red Button, from 10.30pm on Friday 20 February and from 10pm from Saturday 21 to Saturday 28 February. There will also be videos of many of the performances available on the website and on iPlayer for 30 days afterwards. 6 Music Festival by Day The 6 Music Festival is in two parts: the 6 Music Festival by Night - at The 02 Academy Newcastle at The Sage - and the 6 Music Festival by Day. The 6 Music Festival by Day is a separately ticketed free event from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 21 February in The Ouseburn area of Newcastle at the Cluny 1, Cluny 2, The Cumberland Arms, and The Star and Shadow. And on Sunday 22 February at The Boiler Shop in the Stephenson Quarter area of Newcastle. The 6 Music Festival by Day will feature a truly impressive daytime line-up for alternative music lovers, who can come along and experience the alternative spirit of 6 Music. The bill brings more live music, 6 Music presenters in conversation with names from the night-time line-up and other established plus newer artists, discussions, spoken word performances, an independent record shop fair, and comedy. And at The Star and Shadow 6 Music presenter Don Letts will curate a schedule of music films and documentaries. Plus there will be sessions from BBC Introducing acts which will include bands from the North East. And festival goers will see 6 Music presenters in action as they host and participate in many of the events. The full line up of the 6 Music Festival by Day will be announced on Tuesday 3 February from 10am starting in Lauren Lavernes show and continuing on shows throughout the day.
