Art Classes for Adults at the Laing: Laing Art Gallery

Saturday 6, 13 & 20 July 2013, 1pm -3pm - Introductory and developing art skills classes with artist Simon Terry.  Each week he will demonstrate a different technique and provide you with step by step skills for creating your own masterpiece. All materials are provided.  These classes are extremely popular so early booking is recommended. Classes cost £20 each or book all three for discounted price of £50. Week 1: Saturday 6 July 1-3pm Portraits and Figure Drawing Sketching workshop in the 18th and 19 Century Gallery. A step by step demonstration of how to:

• Draw the features and where to place them
• Use shading to capture the shape and structure of the face.
• Measure the proportions of the body
• Draw the basic shapes of the body

Week 2: Saturday 13 July 1-3pm Landscapes in Watercolour Practice using washes and other basic techniques to make an atmospheric watercolour landscape Week 3: Saturday 20 July 1-3pm Still Life in Acrylics  A step by step demonstration of how to:

• Discover the best ways of drawing a still life
• Use acrylics to build up a painting
• Apply final details to a picture
