Spin me a yarn: Ellie Clewlow, David Hockney & Deborah Snell: Gallagher & Turner
This Event has passedCalling all culture vultures and art lovers! Newcastle art gallery Gallagher & Turner have an exhibition this autumn that you won't want to miss.
Spin me a yarn presents the work of three artists - Ellie Clewlow, David Hockney and Deborah Snell - who playfully retell popular stories from the Brothers Grimm and William Shakespeare through a mix of drawing, printmaking and sculpture.
David Hockney fans will be delighted by etchings and aquatints from the renowned artist's Six Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm series, while Sunderland-based artist Ellie Clewlow's work - a direct response to Hockney's illustrations made specifically for the exhibition - will offer a feminist slant on fairy tales.
New works by Newcastle artist Deborah Snell - a collection of lithography, drawings and puppetry celebrating the macabre side of Shakespeare's tales - will also be on show.
So, head to Gallagher & Turner this autumn and let them spin you a yarn!
