Based in the heart of the Quayside, Rani Indian Restaurant offers exquisite food in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.

Head chef, and the heart behind Rani, Chef Chand has over thirty year's experience in the Indian food industry – so he certainly knows his stuff!

Among his numerous incredible achievements, he was chosen to cook for The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III) and The Duchess of Cornwall during their visit to India back in 2006. And the royals loved his dishes so much that they personally thanked him – making Chef Chand the first choice to serve them whenever they visited.

Although he was much sought after by top hoteliers in India, Chef Chand decided to move, bringing his expertise to restaurants in the UK. Finding his creativity limited by the restaurants he’d work for, he decided to carve out his own path and took over Rani back in March 2020 – just two weeks before the first COVID-19 lockdown. 

That definitely didn’t stop his passion though, and so you’ll still find Chef Chand dishing up his authentic Punjabi flavours on the Quayside to this day – showing Newcastle just what true Indian food should taste like!
