Flower Power – 24^th & 25^th January 2025

A celebration of all things vegan, Flower Power kicks off the Food Battle annual calendar with a plant-based spectacular. Bringing together some of the best vegan and vegan-friendly food vendors from across the North East, it’s a champion of mouth-watering meat-free bait and perfect whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or simply veggie-curious!

Battle of the Burger – 18^th & 19^th April 2025

The annual gathering of the region's finest independent burger vendors is back this April with everyone serving up their tastiest burger creations to wow customers and judges alike in a battle for the crown. Don’t miss your chance to find the winning combinations on offer as vendors vie for the ultimate in burger bragging rights!

Slice Wars – 2^nd & 3^rd May 2025

There’s probably more heated debate about what makes a pizza great than you’ll find inside the United Nations! Thin base, stuffed crust, round or square…pineapple? (heresy!). The finest pizza makers in the region will congregate at Slice Wars over the early May Bank Holiday weekend to persuade patrons that their unique or classic dough-based love-parcels are the very best. Prepare your stomachs!

Mexican Standoff – 23^rd & 24^th May 2025

Hola, foodies! Prepare to forget the mediocre chilli con carne you make at home and experience instead the truly eye-watering display of authentic spicy flavours, food variations and tastes in the Mexican Standoff over the late May Bank Holiday. Expect all things taco and accompanying condiments, tostadas, enchiladas and more. Buen provecho!

Battle Royale – 22^nd & 23^rd August 2025

This is the big one! Happening over the August Bank Holiday weekend Battle Royale is the no-holds-barred, leave-it-all-in-the-ring contest to end all contests. This massive celebration of international street food cuisine isn’t limited to food categories, world regions or flavours. Instead, it’s a full-blown feeding melee with the winner emerging victorious as the king of all foods. It’s the best of the best and there’s a smorgasbord of food to try!

Lord of the Wings – 19^th & 20^th September 2025

The most recent addition to Wylam Brewery’s Food Battle calendar, Lord of the Wings was introduced in 2024 and returns for a second time this September. As its name suggests, it’s a battle between chicken wing vendors that invites you to tuck (or cluck?!) into the tastiest chicken in the Toon. Grab your wingmen and wingwomen and head on down!

Argie Bhaji – 7^th & 8^th November 2025

As winter starts to take hold, what better time to really immerse yourself in the hottest spices and most belly-warming dishes? Food Battles takes a trip to south Asia with the curry event to end all others. Spice up your life and try a whole host of traditional dishes, and some with modern twists, all cooked up by masters of the curry craft!

So there you have it – no less than seven mouth-watering Food Battles to enjoy in 2025 that are guaranteed to fill your belly in all the best ways with good music, good drinks and good times to boot!
