November 2024: 10 Unmissable Events in Newcastle

Our monthly round-up of must-see events is back for November

Last updated:

Whether you're more of a Scrooge or Buddy the Elf this November, there’s no doubt that Newcastle’s getting into the festive spirit.

We’ll be lacing up our skates with the return of the Life Science Centre’s legendary ice rink, laughing our socks off with some top-notch live comedy, and getting fueled up for the most wonderful time of the year with the Argie Bhaji food battle at Wylam Brewery.

So don't let the weather keep you out of the Toon - grab those hats and gloves to make the most of Newcastle this November.

The Night Market @ Boiler Shop

With over sixty independent stalls – from artisans to artists – The Night Market brings the latest and greatest of local small businesses to the Boiler Shop this November. Complete with a live DJ, street food vendors and plenty of mulled wine, this late-night shopping experience is one to rival Santa’s workshop.

21st November, £3.50 (full price) / £3 (concessions)

Milton Jones: Ha!Milton @ O2 City Hall

The legend of one-liners, comedian Milton Jones takes to the O2 City Hall stage with his new show Ha!Milton this month. Full disclosure, there’s nothing really to do with one of America’s founding fathers here – but we wouldn’t Wait For It to get those tickets booked…

23rd November, From £38.50

Swing into Christmas @ Newcastle Cathedral

Down for the Count Orchestra is decking the halls of Newcastle Cathedral with their incredibly talented covers of swing era staples from the likes of Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra. Principle conductor Mike Paul-Smith and arranger Simon Joyner will be bringing original arrangements of festive favourites like Winter Wonderland to the stage too, so don’t miss out!

21st November, From £14

Argie Bhaji at Wylam Brewery

The Argie Bhaji @ Wylam Brewery

With the cooler months rolling in, Wylam Brewery is heating up for the next round of their legendary curry battle! That’s right, The Argie Bhaji is back this November, with fifteen specialist food vendors vying for your vote. Clayton Street hotspot My Delhi has reigned supreme for the last two years, but can they go three for three? You’ll have to head down to Wylam to find out!

8th-9th November, Free entry

The Gerry Cinna-Man Experience @ Riverside

For a Belter of a night away from the festivities, catch The Gerry Cinna-Man Experience at Riverside this November. Alongside this fantastic tribute act, there’ll be support from Sam Offender too – the perfect warm-up if you’re after tickets to see the local lad later this year.

9th November, £16.20

SheSounds @ The Newgate Social

Since The Newgate Social opened earlier this autumn, the city centre hotspot has hardly slowed down! This November, they’re celebrating female-led grassroots music with SheSounds. Headlined by BBC Introducing ‘one to watch’ artist Lauren Amour – and with support from Charlotte Greyson, Jenny Dean and Abby Camsell – it’s a great way to find new favourites, and support women in music.

8th November, £6 (early bird) / £4.75 (students)

Ice skating at Life Science Centre

Ice Skating @ Life Science Centre

Wrap up warm for a spin around the Life Science Centre’s real ice rink this November! There’s plenty of opportunities to get your skates on throughout the month, but if you’re after something a little different, why not book one of their silent disco or karaoke on ice sessions? Swifities can even Skate It Off! with a dedicated session on the rink just enjoying Taylor’s tunes!

9th November- 5th January, From £15 (adults) / From £13.50 (child 10+) / From £11.50 99 and under)

The Horne Section's Hit Show @ Tyne Theatre & Opera House

What do you get when five incredibly talented musicians meet one non-musical stand-up comedian? The Horne Section’s Hit Show, of course! Fronted by Taskmaster creator and co-host Alex Horne, this hilarious show promises songs, enthusiastic dancing, and “a lot of mucking about.” Sounds like a blast, save us a seat?

6th November, From £28

Hairspray @ Theatre Royal

You Can’t Stop The Beat as Hairspray comes rolling into Toon this November! Strictly Come Dancing’s Joanne Clifton will be taking to the stage as Velma von Tussle, while Hairspray royalty Brenda Edwards will be making her directorial debut, bringing the show’s infectious high-energy behind the scenes. Grab your hairspray, and those tickets!

11th-16th November, From £23

Disney On Ice presents Road Trip Adventures @ Utilita Arena

Join Mickey Mouse and all his pals as Disney On Ice returns to the Utilita Arena with Road Trip Adventures! This brand-new show travels through familiar favourites like The Lion King, Aladdin and Moana, as well as new classics such as Mary Poppins Returns, Toy Story 4 and Incredibles 2, with world-class skating, amazing acrobatics and up-close character interactions that the whole family will love.

20th-24th November, Prices vary

All of that goodness plus the Christmas lights switch-on, Fenwick Window Reveal and Newcastle’s Christmas Market? That’s enough to make any Grinch’s heart grow three sizes!
