For the very first time, Old Eldon Square will be transformed into a magical Christmas Village to celebrate the festive season!
There's lots of family-friendly fun to be so keep those bah humbug blues at bay, and catch up on all the details you’ll need ahead of its grand opening this winter!
Where is the Christmas Village located?
The Christmas Village will be located at Old Eldon Square.
How long will The Christmas Village be in place for?
The Christmas Village will officially open on Saturday 16th November, and will be in place until Christmas Eve on Tuesday 24th December.
What will be happening at The Christmas Village?
There’ll be no shortage of festive fun to the Christmas Village this year!
First up, there’s the Elf School. Children can “enroll” in the seasonal school and create some wonderful Christmas magic with the Head Elf. After “graduating”, they’ll receive an official Elf Certificate – and take some photos with the elves to commemorate the occasion. Perfect for budding elves aged three and up, there’s sessions available across weekends 16th November to 22nd December and on Monday 23rd December and Tuesday 24th December – but booking a space is essential, so get yours at www.moosenwirt.co.uk/elfschool.
After Elf School, why not celebrate the little one’s “graduation” and catch a show at the Rockin’ Reindeer stage? Here, there’ll be high-energy shows performed throughout the festive season. Maybe you’ll catch Tinsel Tots - a magically interactive show filled with children’s favourite characters - or Ice Extravaganza, a breathtaking winter wonderland show starring ice queens and charming princes).
There’s Elves in Action where Santa’s elves will be bringing their hilarious antics to the stage and The Grinch which is packed with plenty of mischief and cheer as you'd expect, keeping the whole family entertained! Shows will be running on weekends from 16th November to 22nd December, plus Monday 23rd December and Christmas Eve, and you can book your tickets at www.moosenwirt.co.uk/rockinreindeer.
After a busy morning, you might want to fuel up before your next adventure, so why not head to Blitzen? This festive drink hutte will have luxurious loaded hot chocolates and soft drinks to indulge in – while the adults can grab an authentic Bavarian mulled wine, cider or even rose if they fancy it! There'll be food traders including Redheads Mac 'N' Cheese, Geordie Banger Co, Acropolis and Hatch 76 for any hungry bellies too.
Of course, no Christmas Village could be complete without a place to meet Saint Nick himself! Santa Stories offers little visitors to chance to help Santa complete the nice list (and prove that their name belongs on it!) before settling down to enjoy a festive tale, and take photos with the Big Man in Red. This magical memory-making encounter will be happening on weekends from Saturday 16th November with extra dates on Monday 23rd December and Tuesday 24th December, and you can book tickets at www.moosenwirt.co.uk/santastories.
And last, but by no means least, you’ll be able to round your trip off with a spin on a beautifully decorated, traditional carousel, and watch the Christmas Village go by! If you don’t fancy waiting in the queue, you can even book fast track ride tickets to jump to the front of the line at www.moosenwirt.co.uk/carousel.
What else is happening around the Christmas Village?
Being located in the heart of the city centre in Old Eldon Square means that a trip to the Christmas Village is also the perfect opportunity to visit the Newcastle's Christmas Markets too! And last, but by no means least, the beloved Moosenwirt Alpine pop-up bar returns for another year in the Toon. They’ll be serving up the cosiest Christmassy drinks imaginable amongst the hustle and bustle, so make sure you pay them a visit.
