NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week: 15 Delicious Dining Deals for £15
Kickstart Restaurant Week with these amazing £15 deals from around the city
Expand your taste buds – not your budget! – this August as we round up some of the best £15 offers available during NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week.
Whether you're a regular at these restaurants, or you just need an excuse to give 'em a try, there's something on this list for everyone - and it won't break the bank either!
Dakwala, Grainger Street
Restaurant Week newcomer Dakwala opened its doors on Grainger Street earlier this year and has been wowing diners ever since with its deliciously authentic Bombay-inspired street food. Dine there during Restaurant Week and £15 will get you a two-course meal from a mouth-watering menu offering starters like onion-beet bhaji or paneer chilli fry plus mains including Goan fish curry and Punjabi curried chickpeas. Their Restaurant Week offer is available from 12:30pm to 10:30pm too, so it's ideal whether you’re eating out for lunch or fancy a spot of late-night dining.
The Broad Chare, Broad Chare
With a Michelin Bib Gourmand and Top 50 Gastro Pubs mention to its name, The Broad Chare has been a city favourite since 2011 with its no-nonsense proper beer and proper food. This Restaurant Week is no exception, with £15 getting you a delicious two-course lunch. From the likes of a spiced sweetcorn soup starter, a potato, fennel and Spenwood cheese pie main and a rich chocolate mouse pudding, there’s definitely something for everyone. Running on weekdays from 12pm to 2:30pm, we can’t think of a better way to spend a lunch break.
I Scream For Pizza, Quayside
Bringing a taste of the Big Apple to Newcastle’s Quayside, I Scream For Pizza offers up a range of Brookyln-inspired dishes and some of the best ice cream about. There’s no need to sing (or scream!) for your supper this Restaurant Week here though, as just £15 at the Quayside hotspot will get you a 14” pizza, one dip and a milkshake, screamie, or sundae. With a vodka bacon cream base, fennel sausage and pepperoni, the Frankie’s pizza looks pretty good to us – but it’s hard to ignore the genius of the Cherry Poppins pun, a Screamie boasting Fior Di Latte soft serve, crushed amaretti biscuit and Amarena cherry core. Available all-day, every-day, we wouldn’t blame you for coming back for seconds.
The Muddler, Grey Street
Busy schedule this Restaurant Week? Worry not! The Muddler has you covered, with a fantastic £15 deal. This Grey Street favourite is offering two four-piece sushi throughout the week – with options ranging from the calm Yasai (cucumber, avocado, asparagus, inari and sesame seeds) to the lively Active Volcano (spicy tuna, spring onion, sesame seeds and chilli sauce, tempura style). It’s a fantastic way to get a taste of The Muddler’s beloved Pan-Asian menu, and we’re sure it’ll leave you wanting more.
El Guapo, Pilgrim Street
Boasting a menu of over thirty different margaritas, El Guapo’s tequila-fuelled fiesta has reigned supreme since it first opened its doors earlier this year. And the party’s certainly not slowing down for their very first Restaurant Week, with £15 getting you three mouth-watering tacos and a side. The chipotle fried broccoli and beef barbacoa tacos look lush, and the perfect accompaniment to some loaded fries or jalapeno poppers. El Guapo’s offer is available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday – so the only thing left for you to do is pick a margarita!
Fuego, Northumberland Street
We’re heading inside Fenwick to explore our next offer from the Mediterranean-infused menu at Fuego. Located inside the department store’s iconic Food Hall, Fuego’s offering up two different £15 options this Restaurant Week. Lucky us! Enjoy three tapas for £15 – with menu items including patatas bravas, crispy soft-shell crab and polpetti – or grab a pizza and desert for the same amount. A zucchini and gorgonzola pizza followed by burnt basque cheesecake sounds pretty good to us. Running through every day except Saturday, Fuego’s Restaurant Week menu is a fantastic way to kickstart your summer.
The Maven, The Vermont Hotel
Featuring unparalleled views over Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside, The Maven is definitely a venue you’ll want to indulge in this Restaurant Week. For just £15, you’ll get to chose two courses from The Maven’s expansive menu – ranging from wild mushroom arancini to start, slow cooked beef featherblade mains, and a classic sticky toffee pudding to finish. Located inside the gorgeous Vermont Hotel, this offer is available Monday to Saturday 12pm to 9:30pm, making it the perfect choice for anyone with a busy schedule.
The Alchemist, Eldon Square
With a spellbinding menu, The Alchemist is definitely one to have on your ‘to-do’ list this Restaurant Week. Perfect for pairing with one of their devilishly dark drinks, £15 here offers up two courses with plenty to pick from. Grab some crispy shrooms to start, before moving onto their bang bang salad or perhaps sating your sweet tooth with the next level chocolate brownie. And with an offer that's available throughout Restaurant Week, it's pretty hard not to be enchanted by.
Hula Co, Side
Newcomer to the Newcastle foodie scene, Hula Co opened up back in May, and has been cooking up a storm ever since, with its Hawaiian-inspired menu and chilled interior vibe. Ran by the duo behind Twenty Twenty (in fact, you can read our chat with them here), this is Hula Co’s first time taking part in Restaurant Week – and with £15 earning guests a main and dessert, it’s one not to be missed. As if the range of poke bowls, katsu curries and birria picanha steak mains wasn’t enough, there’s even the option to wrap your meal up with a tequila tiramisu too. We’ll cheers to that.
Gino D’Acampo Restaurant Quayside, Quayside
With stunning views over the Quayside – and a gorgeous Italian menu to rival them – Gino D’Acampo’ Restaurant came to the toon a couple of years ago in partnership with INNSiDE by Meliá Newcastle and the rest, as they say, is history. If you haven’t managed to make it down there yet though, then Restaurant Week is the perfect time, as they’re offering a stellar two course menu for £15. Available from 12pm to 4:45pm (or 4:30pm on the Saturday), it's an offer that's perfect for midday dining or a late lunch - whether you pair your minestrone with a trofie arrabbiata, or prefer a super-spicy pizza followed by some classic gelato.
My Delhi, Clayton Street
Winners of the Best Street Food Restaurant of the Year at the National Curry Awards last year, it’s fair to say that My Delhi know their stuff. But proving that you don’t need to break the bank to taste its awards and accolades, My Delhi’s coming into Restaurant Week with not one, but two £15 deals to pick from. You can grab three street plates (with samosa chaat, cauliflower Manchurian and Amritsari fish amongst the menu), or pick up one street plate and one roadside curry (we think Grandma’s Aloo Matar, a family heirloom recipe, sounds pretty good) and some dum pulao rice for the same price. Available throughout Restaurant Week, it’s one you’ll want to bring your mates along for.
Acropolis, Grainger Market
Beloved Greek street food hotspot Acropolis is back with a bang this Restaurant Week, dishing up the best gyros, souvlaki and platters in the toon – just as they’ve done since 2016. This year, £15 gets you one of their fantastic wraps like the Meatcropolis (see what they did there?) or a classic Greek salad wrap, plus a side of halloumi bites to go alongside it. Valid every day throughout Restaurant Week except Sunday, we’re sure it’ll become one of your new favourite spots in no time.
Motel Mexicana, Mosley Street
“What happens in Motel Mexicana, stays in Motel Mexicana” – but their debut Restaurant Week deal is one we want to shout about from the rooftops! Since starting their fiesta earlier this year, this Mosely street hotspot has gained firm favour amongst tequila and taco connoisseurs, and for good reason. If you haven’t experienced a stay at the Motel Mexicana yet though, then their £15 Restaurant Week deal is the ideal opportunity for a visit! Here, you can pick up two of their tasty tacos and some loaded nachos all week long – and from pollo latino to pulled jackfruit, you’re sure to be spoilt for choice.
Leila Lily’s, Grey Street
Great food and gorgeous interiors, Leila Lily’s is at the beating heart of Newcastle’s iconic Grey Street, so of course we’re super excited to celebrate Restaurant Week with them too. Dishing up two courses for just £15, you’ll pick from a wide range of dishes here – from crispy sweet spiced beef to start, and perhaps salmon and tomato sugo for your main. Or maybe you'll satisfy your sweet tooth with one of their deconstructed mango mousses? Either way, you’ll be able to enjoy the spirit of summer at Leila Lily’s from Monday to Saturday, so head on down!
Hen & Hops, High Bridge
Chicken and beer – it’s a combo so easy to get wrong that few have actually done it right – but Hen & Hops definitely isn’t amongst them. Taking part in Restaurant Week once again, this High Bridge locale is offering up a cracking £15 for two courses deal. Pick up some fried wings to start (with your choice of their iconic wide range of sauces), and perhaps a Fowl Play burger to follow (gotta love the name). And if that’s not enough, the offer’s even valid all week long. Hop to it!
So whether it’s your first Restaurant Week or you’re a seasoned regular, these £15 deals across the city are the perfect chance to experience a new restaurant, or a new cuisine. And who knows? You might even find a new favourite.
