Everything You Need to Know About: Newcastle’s Carabao Cup Celebration
Get set to celebrate NUFC’s monumental win in Newcastle this Saturday!

A little over a week ago, Newcastle United triumphed against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium winning their first domestic trophy in 70 years!
Naturally, Newcastle is going all out to celebrate their monumental win and it’s all going down on Saturday 29th March. Whether you’re a die-hard Magpie or football novice wanting to soak up the amazing atmosphere in the city during this historic moment, here’s all the info you need about the Carabao Cup Celebration in Newcastle.
When is the Carabao Cup Celebration happening?
It’s happening on Saturday 29th March – that’s this Saturday, so put the date in your diaries!
What’s happening during the Carabao Cup Celebration?
The epic celebration begins with open-top bus parade (yes, it’s happening!) transporting Newcastle United players through the city centre, from their home at St James’ Park to the Town Moor for the main event.
What route will the open-top bus take?
The bus parade will leave St. James’ Park at approximately 4:30pm before travelling along Gallowgate and Percy Street, then on to the Great North Road before reaching its destination at the Town Moor.
Thousands of fans are expected to turn up to watch the parade, so we'd recommend arriving early to secure a good viewing point on the route!
Will there be any road closures?
Yes - roads on the bus route will be closed from 4pm and will open up again in sections once the parade and crowd have passed. Closures will also be in place on several roads around the Town Moor.
For a full list of road closures and times, see the Newcastle City Council website.

What is happening at the Town Moor?
Only the most epic football celebration the city has ever seen! A large stage will be in place on the Town Moor adjacent to the Great North Road and there’ll be several big screens throughout the site to ensure everybody has a great view of all the action.
The full open-top bus parade will be shown live on the big screens and there’s tonnes more entertainment including DJs, a live band, “Road to Wembley” highlights, a screening of the full cup final and some yet-to-be-announced special guests.
Fans will also witness the team proudly lifting the Carabao Cup on stage before the celebrations close with an amazing show from club partner Sela. Further event details are being announced all the time, so keep checking the Newcastle United website for more information!
Do I need a ticket?
The open-top bus parade is open to the general public to attend and no ticket is needed.
However, while the Carabao Cup Celebration at the Town Moor is free to attend, tickets are required to enter the site
The deadline for getting tickets has sadly now passed but we are happy to report that if you were one of the tens of thousands of fans that registered interest in a ticket, then you will receive your ticket via email and will be able to enter the site for the big event.

What if I have a ticket but can no longer attend?
If you were lucky enough to get a ticket but can’t make it, email [email protected] to let them know.
Are there any age restrictions?
The Carabao Cup Celebration is a family-friendly event, but unfortunately – due to an expected large turnout – children under the age of 2 are not able to attend.
Please note that attendees under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all time and that there are no baby-changing or breast-feeding facilities onsite so parents are encouraged to bring any essential items for their younger children.
What if I get separated from my child?
The city will be very busy on Saturday and we realise this is a big concern for parents! To that end, wristbands will be available for parents to pick up at several city centre locations that they can write their contact details on so that their kid can be safely reunited with them should they get lost - perfect whether you're attending the parade or the Town Moor event.
The wristbands will be available to pick up at the following places - Great North Museum: Hancock, Haymarket Bus Station, Haymarket Metro, Monument Metro, Central Station Metro, Central Station, Eldon Square, The Gate, Greggs (Gallowgate), Costa (Gallowgate), Tesco (Gallowgate).
How do I enter and exit the Town Moor event?
Attendees will be able to enter and exit the event from various points across the Town Moor. NUFC will share a site map with more information ahead of the event.
What time does the event area open and close?
Fans can arrive at the Town Moor from 1:30pm and the event area closes at 8pm.
Is there any parking at the event?
Unfortunately, due to its location, there will be no parking at the event. Attendees are encouraged to plan their journey in advance and use public transport where possible. To plan your journey, visit the Nexus website.
Can I park elsewhere in the city?
If you do choose to drive into the city, there are several parking options including the Utilita Arena car park. We would recommend checking opening times and parking costs with individual car park operators to be on the safe side.
However, please note that several on-street parking bays and multi-story car parks will be affected by parking suspensions on Saturday 29th March. For a full list of affected parking bays and car parks, visit the Newcastle City Council website.

Will there be any seating?
No – the Carabao Cup Celebration is a standing only event and fans are not permitted to bring their own chairs.
What support will be available for disabled attendees?
Organisers have made the event site as accessible as possible and there will be designated areas for wheelchair users and accessible toilets, along with wellbeing officers onsite for additional support.
If you have any questions, please email [email protected] for information and advice.
Will there be toilets on site?
Toilets will be located throughout the site, in addition to accessible toilets for disabled attendees.
Will there be any cash points?
There will be no cash points at the event, but purchases can be made using cards, contactless payments and cash.
Will I be able to buy food and drink?
Yes, there will be a small number of concession stands selling food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Fans are welcome to bring their own food and drink but please be aware that the Carabao Cup Celebration is a dry event and only non-alcoholic beverages are allowed into the site.
Security checks will take place throughout the event to ensure attendees comply with the no alcohol rule and the organisers kindly ask that attendees take their litter home with them.
However, if you’d like a more substantial meal or perhaps a pre- or post-celebration pint or two, check out our article on where to eat and drink in the city before and after the Carabao Cup Celebration for some inspiration!

Can I bring a bag?
Small bags (ideally no larger than A4 size) are permitted. Larger bags will be subject to searches which could delay entry into the event.
Can I bring my NUFC scarf and flag?
Fans are encouraged to bring their scarves but flags and flagpoles are not permitted to ensure the safety of everyone attending.
