NE1's Newcastle Restaurant Week comes round twice a year and is the perfect chance for you to treat your beloved to a special night out.
There are lots of reasons to take advantage of the fantastic offers available during Restaurant Week. It's a chance to try new restaurants and new cuisines, or just an excuse to get out of the house and get well-fed on a budget.
But perhaps the best reason is date night! Don’t make Valentine’s the only time you and your partner get to dress up and go out – there are two Restaurant Weeks a year for you to wine and dine your love, so use them!
In the spirit of all things date night, we've rounded up some of the most romantic restaurants taking part in NE1's Newcastle Restaurant Week this year so read on, get booked up and surprise your other half with a lovely meal out.
Chaophraya, Grey’s Quarter, Eldon Square
With incredible views across Grey’s Monument, Chaophraya’s worth a visit regardless whether it’s a mates date or a first date. And with two courses for £20, or three for £25, what better time than Restaurant Week? Dig into spring rolls, Thai tacos, red Thai curry, pad Thai, chocolate delice and much, much more as you watch the Toon go by.
The French Quarter, Arch 6, Westgate Road
This charming outpost of the Loire Valley has been presenting delicious French cuisine in a cosy, friendly, bistro-style environment for a few years now. A beguiling blend of small plates and main courses, their Restaurant Week offer is two courses for £20 or three for £25 and that includes such temptations as tartare de betterave and bourguignon de champignons. The wine list is amazing too.

Gaucho, Market Street
Focusing on the beefy end of things, Gaucho on Market Street is a beautifully decorated restaurant that manages a quiet intimacy despite its size. It prides itself on its range of Argentinian-style steaks (including cuts like chorizo and churrasco) but there’s a full supporting cast of starters, desserts and veggie options too, and its 3 courses for £25 offer is a total steal.
Victors, Quayside
Victors has a lot going for it – a wonderful Quayside location, a really vibey interior and an excellent American-Asian fusion menu: think burgers and sushi, steaks and beef tataki. That all adds up to a potentially marvellous date night, and at two courses for just £20 or thee courses for £25 it won’t break the bank either.

DOOD, Newcastle Quayside
Since first opening its doors last November, DOOD’s taste of Persia and the ancient Levant has gained the restaurant plenty of fans across the city. Their atmospheric interiors – including original features, vintage lighting, exposed brick walls and stunning views across the Tyne – make this an ideal date night spot. But if you need more convincing, their debut Restaurant Week menu isn’t half bad either, with their £25 offer getting you a starter, main and a side, including pita crusted calamari, jujeh kabab (charcoal grilled chicken breast), and their famous sharing hummus and pita.
Mantra Thai, Forth Banks
Having undergone a gorgeous transformation back in 2023, Mantra Thai is definitely one to treat your better half to this Restaurant Week, if you haven’t already! Here, you two can enjoy two Restaurant Week offers - two courses for £20 from 12pm-5pm or two courses for £25 from 5pm-10pm - with dishes including panang pork curry, lamb massaman curry and crispy fried tofu.

Hotel du Vin, City Road
Hotel du Vin’s stunning Edwardian building houses an even more spectacular dining venue inside – Bistro du Vin. Renewed fireplaces, art and gentle lighting create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying their Restaurant Week menu with your nearest and dearest, whether you dig into two courses for £20 or three for £25. French cuisine gets a British twist here, so expect the likes of chicken liver parfait, “Le Camemburger” and pear and gingerbread trifle to be dished up throughout the week.
Gino D’Acampo Restaurant, Quayside
Another beautifully appointed, nicely located Quayside restaurant is Gino’s, which has bel paese charm and Latin romance in spades. It also has an excellent two courses for £20 and threefor £25 offer so you can enjoy dishes like bruschetta al pomodoro, picante pizza or tiramisú and still have money left for the cab home.
![Leila Lily's](/images/media/Leila Lily/leila-lilys-interior.jpg?w=1200&fm=pjpg&fit=crop)
Leila Lily’s, Grey Street
Leila Lily’s is arguably the most lavishly decorated restaurant in town - a true explosion of colour. It also has a menu packed full of fusion dishes that are as vibrant as they are enticing. And with a Restaurant Week offer of two courses for £15 or three for £20, you and your better half could be tucking into a pan fried seabass and bean cassoulet, spiced vegetable skewers and chimichurri or a sticky toffee pudding while you soak up the atmosphere.
The Botanist, Monument Mall
With its atmospheric lighting and of course its incredible botanical interiors, it’s no wonder that The Botanist has been a staple date night spot for so long. If you’re overdue a visit, then why not book a table for two this Restaurant Week, with two courses for £20 and three for £25? Those legendary hanging kebabs are on the menu too, of course!
Date Night isn’t just an American rom-com movie with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey... although that’s pretty good. It’s also a chance to reconnect with your partner, escape from the kids or the domesticity and just eat great food in a great restaurant with – hopefully – great company. And all for a great price with NE1's Newcastle Restaurant Week!
