How to Plan the Perfect Stag Do in Newcastle
Planning a stag do in Newcastle? We’ve got you covered!

Newcastle is known across the land as a premier UK destination for stag dos, and we certainly have to agree!
If you’re celebrating your “last night of freedom” in the city and looking for some inspiration on what to do, then we have some amazing recommendations – from where to stay and what to do to where to eat and which pubs and clubs to visit.
Get your sleeping situation sorted
Whether you’re a stag party visiting from further afield or a local who’s decided staying overnight in the city is a better idea than going home to your betrothed three sheets to the wind – there’s a hotel in Newcastle for you.
Located just a short walk from Newcastle’s Central Station, Royal Station Hotel is ideal for stags travelling into the city by train and close to lots of great restaurants and bars. Plenty of different room options are available (single, twin, double and triple included) and they do some great deals too.

For a city centre stay, Maldron Hotel is ideal. Located in the heart of Newcastle close to all the action, its comfy rooms are perfect for crashing out after a night on the tiles and there’s the onsite Grain & Grill Bar for some pre-night out drinks too plus a hearty breakfast to enjoy the next day.
If you’re looking to save a few pennies, then Kabannas Newcastle is the one for you. Offering affordable accommodation and a prime location close to the city’s top attractions, the hotel has several dorm rooms available in four, five, six and eight-bed configurations that are ideal for stags who don’t mind bunking up together – and it won’t break the bank either!
Book up for a fun activity
We know stag parties are often pretty booze-fuelled affairs, but why not do something fun before you hit Newcastle’s bars and nightclubs?
Show off your putting prowess at Junkyard Golf Club who put the “crazy” back into crazy golf with three nine-hole courses to choose from including the creepy circus-inspired Bozo course (evil clowns included!).
Alternatively, put your sharpshooting skills to the test at Point Blank Shooting – Newcastle’s only simulation shooting range. With over 200 shooting scenarios to choose from and real-feel replica guns – plus the option to go head-to-head in two player missions – a trigger-happy time is guaranteed!

Lane7 is a veritable feast of fun activities offering everything from bowling and batting cages to pool, beer pong and arcade games. There are even karaoke booths if you and the lads fancy belting out a few tunes – you could literally spend a whole day having fun at Lane7!
For the ultimate manly stag do activity, however, it has to be axe throwing at Hatchet Harry’s. Their expert instructors will teach you all you need to know about the art of axe throwing before you get to have a go yourself in their range! Hatchet Harry’s is also home to an airsoft shooting range and a rage room, so why not make a day of it and book up for all three activities?
Fill up on some tasty food
No doubt you’ll be enjoying a bevvy or ten on your stag do, but everyone knows that drinking on an empty belly is a bad idea so filling up with some food before hitting the tiles is a must!
In the mood for something quick and casual before you head out into the city? Fat Hippo is one of Newcastle’s best burger restaurants and with a range of juicy beef burgers and tasty buttermilk chicken burgers – plus sides and starters including wings, trash browns and dirty fries – it’s ideal for a quick bite that’ll fill your belly right up.
If pizza is more your thing, then how about a trip to Rudy’s? Since opening in late 2024, it’s fast become one of Newcastle’s best-loved pizza joints thanks to its delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas. There’s a range of menu regulars to choose from but don’t forget to check out their specials board for limited-edition pizzas either!

If the thought of a juicy steak gets your taste buds tingling, then you’re in luck because there are lots of great steakhouses in Newcastle and Quayside restaurant Tomahawk is one of the best! From rump and ribeye to flat iron and fillet, there are tonnes of cuts to choose from plus sharing steaks and boards for the ultimate feast.
Or maybe you fancy a good old curry? Rani has been a staple of Newcastle’s Indian restaurant scene for several years now and dishes up authentic Punjabi food – so if you’re up for the likes of chicken tikka masala, lamb street curry or king prawn biriyani, this is the place to head!
Go on a pub crawl
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for – where to head for a pint (or ten!) in Newcastle! As you probably know, the city is blessed with a wealth of pubs to visit but if you’re in need of a few recommendations we’ve got your back!
Recently opened, The Canny Lad is a great shout to kick off the boozy part of your stag do adventures. There are multiple screens throughout the joint showing all kinds of sports plus lots of beer, lager and sprits on tap to sup and pool and darts to play in its upstairs bar too.
To really explore Newcastle’s pub scene, a visit to The Old George Inn is a must. It’s the city’s oldest pub, dating back to 1582 and yes – it has a resident ghost too! Don’t let the ghost put you off though, because today it’s the place to be for real ales and a great atmosphere – plus it’s open ‘til the small hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

After there, why not wind your way down to The Bridge Hotel? Located just behind Newcastle Castle, it’s a great traditional boozer with some fantastic cask ales on offer and it’s got a lovely outdoor terrace perfect for stag parties coming to the city during the warmer months.
Just a short walk away from The Bridge Hotel, you’ll find the Crown Posada – another historic Newcastle pub. Situated over three floors, it’s got the kind of laidback vibes and great drinks (lots of beers and whiskeys!) that are perfect for a pre-club stop off.
If you don’t fancy organizing your own pub crawl, you could always let someone else sort it for you. Newcastle Tour Company has a fantastic pub tour of some of the city’s very best pubs, priced from just £245 per party that’ll take the hassle straight out of your pub crawl!
Experience Newcastle’s legendary nightlife
The fun in Newcastle doesn’t stop when the pubs start closing, of course, so carry on your stag night out at one of the city’s fantastic clubs.
Digital is one of Newcastle’s biggest nightclubs and puts on everything from trance and makina nights to pop punk and nu-metal nights, alongside a regular roster of visiting big-name DJs and one-off events that are perfect for keeping the party going.
If it’s pure cheese you’re after, then look no further than Flares. Proudly declaring itself as “Newcastle’s biggest party bar”, you’re in for a fun-filled night of cheesy anthems and party classics that’ll get even the shiest and most retiring of stags on the dance floor!

Naturally, Newcastle’s Bigg Market is a premier destination for stag parties and we can certainly recommend a club or two to attend there! Head to Popworld for a lively atmosphere and great deals on shots, shooters and bombs or venture over the road to Stein Bier Keller for a slice of Bavaria in the heart of the Toon – it’s like Oktoberfest every night with amazing European beers and specialty stein cocktails, live music and plenty of food and drink packages to book.
Located a conveniently short walk away, there’s Howlers on Collingwood Street. Recently voted one of the best Newcastle stag bars by Last Night of Freedom, it boasts the city’s only ball pit bar and hosts a Bottomless Bonkers Ball every Friday and Saturday with karaoke, limbo battles, party games and more – perfect for a wild night out in the Toon.

Recuperate with a hangover-curing breakfast
It’s the next day out after your big boozy sesh in Newcastle and you’re no doubt in need of some hangover-curing grub. If you didn’t book a bed and breakfast deal at your hotel, or perhaps you slept in and missed breakfast (we’re not judging!), then fear not!
Blakes is a cosy Grey Street spot ideal for recovering from a hangover with some tasty breakfast eats. Better yet, their breakfast menu runs until 3pm Monday to Saturday and 2pm on Sundays so it’s a perfect choice if you’ve slept in and has lots of tasty fare to choose from – Full English breakfasts and breakfast stotties included.

Pilgrim Street favourite Horticulture is always on hand for the ultimate brunch feast. Served from 10am ‘til 3pm from Wednesday to Sunday, their brunch menu offers the like of pancakes, waffles, chorizo hash and steak and eggs – a surefire way to help with that brutal hangover!
And of course, you can’t go wrong with a good old wallet-friendly ‘Spoons breakfast that won’t break the bank. Head to The Quayside branch for all your Wetherspoon breakfast faves and a bit of bracing River Tyne air to get rid of that hangover!
So, there you have it – lots of ideas to plan the best stag do ever in Newcastle! Here’s hoping you celebrate your “last night of freedom” in sensational style in the city!
