Right in the heart of Newcastle city centre - recently relocated to larger premises - is a business that’s founded and powered by women. That company is Bravissimo and they’ve made it their mission to help women feel confident, uplifted and amazing, due largely to the hugely experienced staff who welcome you almost as part of the family. We had a chat with Lisa Newell, Assistant Manager of the Eldon Square store, to get some insider knowledge on the inspiring bra outlet that’s empowering the region’s women.
“We’re cheerleaders for women with big boobs and so many of the team are big-boobed women too so they know the struggle it can be for customers!”, Lisa explains. Bravissimo supports women who are a D-cup and above, while not compromising on style, shape or fit. Unlike other underwear stores, their bespoke fitting service - available via appointment - provides not only advice but the time necessary to find the perfect fit, regardless of body shape.
In fact, one of Bravissimo’s primary selling points is their bespoke ‘guaranteed great fit’ that the staff pride themselves on providing. Fittings could be an awkward customer experience in less capable hands, but their discreet and personalised service really makes customers feel at ease, as Lisa elaborates. “We have a very comfortable atmosphere, we give individual advice and cater to all body shapes and sizes. We have transgender customers, breast cancer patients, women with disabilities or additional needs, implants, those from different religious backgrounds – everyone’s requirements are different and everyone is welcome”.
“A well fitted bra means you’re benefitting properly from the superb quality underwear you’re buying”, Lisa adds. “You feel good, ‘uplifted’ in many ways, and that means our customers return again and again so we get to know them very well.” Many customers praise the store and its staff on social media, often explaining how they’ve experienced shoddy customer service at other stores, or have relied on their own poorly-informed judgement. The knowledge, experience and attention to detail the Bravissimo staff are known for has been a valuable aspect since the company was founded and grows every year.
Bravissimo also offer sports bras and tops because that kind of well-chosen support is important in all aspects of daily life. This is particularly true of their swimwear selection, which is available all year around in store, not just when summer rolls up. “People take holidays and exercise all year around, so it makes sense to us and our customers to have swimwear in store when they need it.” explains Lisa.
As you’d expect from a company that forefronts inclusion and community Bravissimo also get involved with charitable endeavours on a local and national level, with the main focus being International Women’s Day. They support The Prince’s Trust #changeagirlslife campaign, with £1 from every sale for the week donated to the charity that uplifts young women, assisting in them achieving their life goals with education, training and work, including free courses.
It’s a super diverse place to work, and somewhere to get to know generation after generation of inspiring women too. So, when you’re looking for your next bra, sports top or swimsuit don’t just make do with ill-fitting, uninspiring clothing, especially when it’s for pieces that are so vital to how you feel and carry yourself. Put yourself first and choose the personalised attention and inspiration for which the experienced team at Bravissimo are admired.
