The GymNewgate Street

Another great flexible option, The Gym Group’s Newcastle location has a membership scheme which starts at just £19.99 a month and there’s no contract needed. If weights and cardio are your goal, they have all the gear you need and there’s bags of space to stretch out. Free classes are included in your membership and range from ways to improve your mind as well as your body, plus strength and conditioning classes and cardio workouts. Looking for the personal touch? Bodyzone, Carliol Square

This exclusively ladies-only gym is one of the city’s best independently owned spaces and comes with a supportive and knowledgeable team ready to get you looking and feeling great. Their state-of-the-art equipment is perfect for any goal, whether you’re looking to lose weight, boost your general wellbeing or you’re in training for a challenge. From treadmills and cross trainers to cycles and rowing machines, there’s something for everyone. Classes include body combat, spinning, zumba and more, plus there are personal trainers on hand too.
 

Newcastle University’s Gym, Richardson Road

Newcastle Uni’s open-plan gym has everything you need for a rewarding workout - from high energy equipment like treadmills, steppers, crosstrainers, bikes and rowers to benches and dumbbells, Olympic lifting bars, a sled track and prowler and loads of other gear to try out. Their bespoke functional rig offers various strength training options, including gymnastic rings and high ropes and they have all the accessories you need to meet your training needs.


 

City Baths, Northumberland Road

A serene space for a swim, the historic City Baths occupy a great space in the city, meaning it’s a perfect place for a quick lunchtime dip or a post-work workout. Their classes include yoga, aqua fit, pilates and dance fitness, and there’s a variety of membership options. They even have a spa, ideal for that post-workout relaxation session! F.I.T. ClubHigh Bridge

Their classes boast that you’ll get the speed and strength of a boxer with the stamina and determination of a commando! It’s perfect for all ages and abilities, and it makes for a great group experience too.


 

Sport Central, Northumberland Road

Northumbria University’s £30 million state-of-the-art facility Sport Central boasts an array of facilities and spaces, so if you’re looking for somewhere to play group sports as well as workout, it’s a great choice. There’s badminton and table tennis courts, options for personal training and courts available to hire out for basketball, netball and much more. Facilities-wise, you’ll find strength machines, free-weights, HIIT cardio machines and a 25m swimming pool.
 

NU Foundation, Diana Street

Newcastle United’s NU Foundation provides dozens of opportunities to get fit and healthy for people of all ages and backgrounds.
