
It’s the spookiest time of year and it is time to get totally freaked out. Gather up your cinema snacks, whether you’re pinching from the trick or treat collections or getting in the popcorn, the fundamentals of a great movie night start from the foodie set up. Snacks at the ready, let’s set the scene and there’s no sofa to hide behind in this line up of NE1’s creepiest movie marathons.
Get out into City and explore the films that are on offer that will cater to all your freak-out fixes. All over NE1 theatres will be screening some of the scariest movies old and new in the lead up to Halloween. Prepare to be scared at one of the Cities most sinister of nights.
28 October
First up we have the return of Tyneside Cinema’s ‘The Cult All-Nighter’ - a night of truly terrifying cinema classics. There is a horrifying line up of spook-tacular movies that will be running from 9.30pm to the crack of dawn at 6am. Pick your poison from four screen themes : classic horror, female directors, VHS screenings and a special programme from London based cult film specialists Cigarette Burns cinema. Expect to be terrified with names such as Halloween, IT, Friday 13th, The Evil Within, The Babadook, American Psycho, Scream and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre taking over the screens. Book now for one of the late night horrors if you are feeling brave enough.

Hauntingly good hosts No. 28 bring to you a horror-filled night at their quiz and screening. The infamously creepy Halloween by John Carpenter (1978) will be shown after their quiz, which is made up on five rounds of trivia and facts about the movie.
Halloween all but invented the blood curdling genre of slasher horror movies, it is the epitome of a frightful film and is sure to terrify. The only part of the evening that wont put chills down your spine is the price, £1 entry and a £50 bar tab up for grabs!

All work and no play . . . isn’t good for anyone! Make sure you are getting in some frightfully good fun this Halloween with a captivating classic, The Shining. Finish off your Tuesday with a spectacularly scary throwback screening of the film at Cineworld in the Gate. Return to the dreary isolated resort with the Torrance family as they get warped into a timeline of madness and murder. Another brilliant Stephen King classic that will chill you right to the very core. What better way to spend Halloween!

Lets not forget the brand new additions to the Gory Genre of horror films. New movies have landed on the cinema scene just in time for Halloween, we have; IT, The Ritual, and Jigsaw to terrify us something silly. Head down to Tyneside Cinema or Cineworld any time for a harrowing Halloween fix.
Stephen King’s IT will be sure to give you Coulrophbia (the fear of clowns) Pennywise is a shapeshifting clown who hunts down children - the stuff of nightmares!
Check out The Ritual a movie that will ruin camping for you forever as you watch a group of college friends encounter a menacing presence in the woods that stalks them. Produced by brilliant Andy Serkis (Gollum) it is bound to be a hair-raising watch.
To see a game you certainly don’t want to be playing this Halloween, watch Jigsaw the eighth and latest instalment of the Saw Franchise. The infamous Jigsaw killer returns to play sadistic games on a group of victims that determines whether they live or die.
