Everything You Need To Know About…The Official Eurovision Party
Newcastle is marking this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in the best way possible, with a massive party that promises plenty of fun and Eurovision-themed entertainment followed by the main event, the final itself. The city may have missed out to Merseyside in the chance to actually host the final, but us Geordies will still be enjoying all the glitz, glamour and often wonderfully leftfield musical entries, as fans gather together in a sea of colour and song.
What is the Official Eurovision Party?
The Official Eurovision Party is hosted in partnership with the BBC and Newcastle City Council and it’s always the biggest and best loved Eurovision event taking place in the city , a chance for fans to gather and celebrate with our European neighbours.
When is it?
The party kicks off promptly at 4pm on Saturday 13th May, with the official BBC Live Final broadcast on a huge screen from 8pm. There will be no admissions after the broadcast starts but the arena is mixed seating and standing so it’s advised that to secure a seat you arrive early. Don’t forget that the semi-finals take place on Tuesday 9th May and Thursday 11th May and these are both available to watch free in Times Square from 8pm each night

Where is it taking place?
Times Square is hosting the event again this year. The open-air venue located next to the Life Science Centre has been home to Eurovision parties for the last few years and they just keep getting bigger and better.
What can people expect?
This year, the party promises several hours of live music, DJs and special guests entertaining the crowds as anticipation builds for the live final. There will undoubtedly be plenty of colourful dress (maybe even some sequins), a celebration of former Eurovision favourites, and participating countries represented with flags and costumes.
How much are tickets?
The Official Eurovision Party is a ticketed event. Each ticket costs £5 (plus booking fee) and they’re available to buy online here. During the bidding process, Newcastle City Council worked closely with the Ukrainian community, making lasting links with those who fled their home country to make a fresh start in the city. The organisers are therefore proud to be giving a proportion of free tickets to Ukrainian residents in the city.
Will there be any food and drink at the Official Eurovision Party?
Food and drink will be available to buy at the event so bringing your own food or drink is not permitted.
