Everything You Need to Know About… Newcastle Cocktail Week

Cocktail lovers assemble! An epic celebration of local mixology is coming is coming to the Toon this autumn

Last updated:

From late September to early October, the city is set to shake things up (quite literally) with the first edition of Newcastle Cocktail Week.

For 10 days, bars and restaurants across Newcastle city centre are coming together to offer exclusive drink deals showcasing their very best cocktails.

Whether you’re mad for margaritas, partial to a Pornstar Martini or craving a Cosmopolitan, this is one cocktail enthusiasts won’t want to miss. Read on for all the info you need to make the most of Newcastle Cocktail Week.

What is Newcastle Cocktail Week?

It’s a brand-new 10-day long event celebrating the very best of Newcastle’s cocktail scene that entitles wristband holders to exclusive drink discounts.

It’s the brainchild of Scotland-based marketing agency M.AD. which has held other Cocktail Weeks in Perth, Coventry, Manchester and its native Dundee.

Considering how canny our cocktail scene is, it’s no surprise they decided to host a Cocktail Week into the Toon too!

When is it happening?

Newcastle Cocktail Week kicks off on Friday 27th September and runs right through to Sunday 6th October 2024.

Which venues are taking part?

Fifty bars and restaurants across the city centre are getting in on the Cocktail Week action including the likes of The Alchemist, Motel Mexicana, Pleased to Meet You and Castro’s.

That’s just a small selection though - check out the Newcastle Cocktail Week website for a full list of all the venues taking part.

How does it work?

To take advantage of all the amazing deals available, all you need to do is pre-order a Newcastle Cocktail Week wristband and show it to a member of staff at the venue you’re visiting when ordering.

How much are wristbands?

Early bird wristbands cost £5.95 plus booking fee and advance discount wristbands are priced at £7.95 plus booking fee. You’ll pay a little more for final release wristbands (£9.95 plus booking fee), so get them ordered sharpish!

Where can I order a wristband?

Newcastle Cocktail Week wristbands are available to buy via Fatsoma. There’ll be a designated pick-up point in the city centre to collect your wristband from which the organisers will be announcing shortly.

What cocktail deals are available?

All participating venues will be offering one of their signature cocktails for just £5 – so you could be sipping on a Toon Iced Tea at Tickets, a frozen marg at El Guapo or a refreshing Sweet Leila at Leila Lily’s for less than a large tub of Lurpak.

A selection of venues are offering other drink discounts too including Gusto which has a 2-4-1 spritz offer running on weekdays and MOJO where guests can get 20% off all drinks.

If you’re in need of some nibbles, a handful of food offers are available too including a sharing plate and carafe of wine for £19.99 at Cavavin, giant pizza slices for £5 at Twenty Twenty and 25% off food at Shearer’s Sports Bar & Lounge.

A full list of deals can be found on the Newcastle Cocktail Week website.

As lovers of a tipple or two here at NE1, we couldn’t be more excited for Newcastle Cocktail Week and the chance to try the amazing concoctions our city’s master mixologists are shaking up. Wristband up, cocktail lovers – it’s going to be epic!
