Music by the Marina returns for its second year, promising another tune-packed day with something for everyone.
This year, we’ve joined forces with HMV Newcastle to bring you a day full of top-class local music talent covering everything from pop and rock to folk and dance. Here's all the info you need to know to make the most of this fun mini-music fest - from where it's happening to which acts are playing.
What is NE1’s Music by the Marina?
Music by the Marina is a day of music at Wesley Square near Newcastle City Marina that features a tune-tastic line-up of local musicians performing throughout the day for everyone to enjoy, The acts have been chosen to be varied, inclusive and exciting - in a nutshell, it's a mini-music fest that you won’t want to miss out on.
Where is it?
It’s taking place at Wesley Square, just next to Urban Garden on the Quayside.
When is it?
Music by the Marina is running from 11am till 4pm on Saturday 17th August, with live acts performing all day.
Which acts are performing?
Former X Factor contestent Geoff Mull will be closing Music by the Marina with an unmissable set at the end of the day at 3pm, but before then you'll also see performances from:
- Lauren Amour @ 11am – a rising local star with a catalogue of relatable pop hits
- Torn Apart by Lisa @ 12pm – Sunderland-based acoustic act playing a mix of punk and folk
- Louis Chrisp @ 1pm – Sunderland-based acoustic act playing a mix of punk and folk
- Spilt Milk @ 2pm – a four-piece indie rock outfit hailing from Gateshead
How much is it?
Music by the Marina is entirely free and no tickets are needed. Just turn up, rock out and have an amazing time!
Can anyone attend?
There are no age restrictions although please do think about any younger children’s sensitive ears when you make your way down the front!
