Everything You Need to Know About… Generator Live

Make the most of this amazing festival celebrating the North East’s vibrant music scene

Last updated:

Love our local music scene? Then you won’t want to miss out on Generator Live – one of the North East’s most exciting music festivals – when it returns to Newcastle this October.

If you’re planning on going, we’ve gathered up all the info you need to make the most of Generator Live.

What is Generator Live?

It’s a two-day celebration of the North East’s amazing music scene spearheaded by Newcastle-based talent development agency Generator with support from BBC Music Introducing.

Featuring a one-day conference followed by a day full of gigs from up-and-coming North East artists, the festival is a showcase of our region’s diverse music scene that aims to put under-the-radar talents in front of the right people from the UK music industry.

When and where is it happening?

This year’s edition of Generator Live takes place in early October with the conference happening on Friday 4th October at The Assembly Rooms from 11am to 6pm and a day full of performances from exciting acts taking place at the Boiler Shop on Saturday 5th October from 2pm.

Which acts are playing at the Boiler Shop?

Eleven talented local musicians will be performing at the Boiler Shop throughout the day on Saturday 5th October.

Expect to hear Middlesbrough indie-folk talent Finn Forster, South Shields singer-songwriter Cortney Dixon and Newcastle alt-rock band The Peevie Wonders followed by headline act L Devine – a rising star from Whitley Bay who counts Charlie XCX among her high-profile fans. Check out the full line-up of artists on the Generator Live website.

How much are tickets?

It’s free to attend the Generator Live Conference at The Assembly Rooms, but places must be reserved.

Tickets for Generator Live gigs at the Boiler shop cost from £12 plus booking fee, or £8 plus booking fee if you’re a student or under the age of 18. Note that the Boiler Shop leg of the festival is 14+ only and under 16s must be accompanied by a full-paying adult.
