Kids and their grown-ups are in for an egg-cellent time this Easter, with loads of family-friendly happenings to keep everyone entertained.

From cooking classes to crafty workshops, it’s set to be a busy Easter for the young – and young-at-heart! – this Spring. Let’s hop to it!

The Easter Adventure @ The Assembly Rooms

The Assembly Rooms are taking families on a seasonal adventure this April, with their enchanting Easter experience! There’ll be a Treasure Island pantomime, interactive egg hunt and crafting with Peter Rabbit and friends – before each little one heads home with a lovely goody bag to remember the special day by. With mesmerizing storytelling and hands-on activities, it's ideal for families looking to make memories this Easter.

Children’s Easter Nest Making Activity & Adults Sparkling Cream Tea @ Fenwick

Mini chefs can also get busy baking inside Fenwick’s very own Mason & Rye, making and decorating their own Easter nests. Tickets include a delicious mini tea for the wannabe bakers, while the grown-ups can relax over an indulgent cream tea including a glass of sparkling wine, two mini homemade fruit scones, and tea or coffee. Sounds like a pretty good way to treat the whole family!

Down on the Quayside, Gino D’Acampo Restaurant will be dishing up a kids' pizza making class that everyone will want to get a slice of! Oli the Choc will be on-hand to help create the chocolate pizza that dreams are made of – before becoming a pizza chef and customizing their own savoury pizza to perfection. Plus, £2 of all ticket sales will go to 'Children with Cancer UK' to support the invaluable work they do supporting children with cancer and their families.

Little ones can also get creative with an Easter craft class at John Lewis. Egg-citing Easter @ Life Science Centre

Curious kids will love exploring the Life Science Centre this Easter. There’s the chance to create their own ‘egg’ catapult and donning a lab coat for a seasonal experiment, as well as getting hands-on with Play Rebellion, Wow Zone, and Play Zone – to name but a few! Plus, their new science show - created in celebration of their 25th anniversary - will also be on, full of sparkles and surprises to keep everyone entertained.

Create Your Own Artist’s Book @ Hatton Gallery

One for the older kids now, as Hatton Gallery invites those aged 12-18 years to create their own artist’s book. Offering the chance to experiment with different materials and mediums, it’s suggested that attendees bring a line from a song or poem to illustrate and help spark those imaginations. Plus the whole session is free to attend, and there's no booking required either!

Little Artists Plus+ @ Laing Art Gallery

Little Artists Plus+ sessions welcome those aged 1-5, and siblings up to the age of 7, to the Laing Art Gallery this April. Offering a relaxed way to explore the venue, there’ll be a warm up with movement and motion, gallery exploration with interactive activities, an art activity and story time (with a snack!) to help inspire those young imaginations! It's ideal for anyone with budding artists in the family, especially since it aims to be fully inclusive, and anyone with additional needs is welcome.

Curiosity Sparks: Easter Egg Hunt @ Discovery Museum 

Or, if there's any wannabe computer scientists in your household, then head to the Discovery Museum for an Easter egg hunt with a difference! The Easter bunny is lost - it's no yolking matter! - and the Discovery Museum needs your help. Families are tasked with coding and directing a robot bunny to make sure that everyone gets the right eggs in time for the big day.

Easter Panto: The Wizard of Oz @ Tyne Theatre & Opera House

All yellow brick roads lead to Tyne Theatre & Opera House this April, for their Wizard of Oz Easter panto. Expect fabulous dance routines, pop song performances and plenty of audience participation, transporting you from Newcastle to the heart of the Emerald City itself. Click your heels together, and you'll soon be joining Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion on their journey to meet the wonderful Wizard of Oz!

Greek Easter Market @ St. John The Baptist Church

Or for something a little different this Easter, head to St. John The Baptist Church for the first Greek Easter Market. Hosted by Pegasus Events, there’ll be Greek Easter sweets and food to enjoy, as well as arts, crafts and face painting too. Want to keep the good vibes going? There'll be a Greek Party into the evening, with delicious Greek Mezze food to enjoy and live music from Anglea, who'll be performing traditional Greek songs!
