Last updated:

Newcastle has no shortage of Indian eateries to enjoy, so why not pay a visit to your favourite spot, or try out something new with these fantastic deals?

From Sachins to SnackWallah, you're sure to find something you love.

Dakwala, Grainger Street

Since opening up earlier this year, it hasn’t taken long for Dakwala to become a beloved Newcastle hotspot – and for good reason. Their impressive menu takes inspiration from Bombay’s culinary landscape, with plenty of small plates, special curries and canteen munchies to suit every taste. They’ve also put a spicy spin on the classic bottomless brunch with their all-you-can-eat three-course feast where £19.95 will get you unlimited starters, mains and desserts all day on Sundays. Sounds like a pretty good way to end the weekend!

My Delhi, Clayton Street

Why not join the delhi-licious Bottomless Curry Club at My Delhi? Since the restaurant first burst onto the scene back in 2019, their food has been packing a flavourful punch thanks to their three Delhi-trained chefs – so their offer is definitely worth digging into. For just £19, you’ll be able to enjoy 90 minutes of non-stop Indian food, from delicious roadside curries to spicy street plates. And once you’ve finished something? Just order more of anything on the menu! It’s a good way to try out old favourites and find new ones.

Dabbawal, High Bridge

Alternatively, why not spice up your lunch plans with a trip to Dabbawal? Their restaurant takes inspiration from Mumbai’s vibrant street food culture and their relaxed atmosphere and retro interiors always make for a welcoming environment. Head there during the day and you'll be welcomed in with their fantastic two-course lunch menu. For just £14, you can start with the likes of chicken pakora fritters or sweet potato chaat – with vegetable jhalfrezi or old Delhi-style butter chicken for mains – while pulao rice, plain naan or creamy black lentils are available to share too.

Dabbawal

Khai Khai, Queen Street

Khai Khai takes Indian cuisine back to its traditional techniques, expertly preparing meals with smoke and fire to transport you to another place and time entirely. There’s a friendly vibe and real sense of community here that extends through both its interiors and its menu, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself becoming a regular. Why not indulge in their Chef’s Feast menu? Priced at £42 per person, the folk at Khai Khai describe this as a smorgasbord that’s “worthy of the last supper” – so head over and put it to the test!

Ayla, Grey Street

Authentic Indian cuisine, timeless interiors and located right in the heart of Newcastle, Ayla is a tried and tested favourite. Here, meals are crafted in the same manner of an Indian household, with each dish freshly cooked upon order. If you’re heading to the theatre, then their pre-theatre menu is ideal for indulging in. You’ll enjoy three courses for £15.95 per person, as well as 10% off drinks, so whether you fancy a sheek kebab or spicy ghoost Shimla mirch, there’s plenty to enjoy before your show!

Sachins, Forth Banks

Since first opening its doors forty years ago, Sachins has become something of a local legend. Authentic and traditional Punjabi dishes are the focus here, with homemade spices and fresh ingredients too. To really get a taste of the restaurant, take a look at their gourmet meal for two. For £60, you’ll enjoy a sensational three-course small plate menu inside their historic Forth Banks restaurant - perfect for mate dates and first dates alike.

Sachins

Aneesa’s, Forster Street

Aneesa’s brings a taste of Indian, Pakistani and Punjabi cuisine to the Quayside with its impressive all you can eat buffet offering. For just £19.95, you’ll enjoy their huge menu of starters, main course, salad/sauces, desserts, rice and sides too! Oh, and that’s not forgetting that there’s Chinese food and pizzas to keep the whole family happy as well.

Simla, Side

Since 1981, the family behind Simla has been serving up delicious delicacies at the Quayside-based restaurant - think clay oven specials, classic curries and a perfected balance between contemporary and authentic Indian food. If you’ve not had the pleasure of experiencing that before, then their £30 set menu is the ideal opportunity, with plenty of dishes to pick from – and even warm gulab jamun with vanilla ice cream to finish.

Thali Tray @ Bealim House, Gallowgate

Taking inspiration from the spirit of communal dining, Thali Tray offers the unique chance to sample a wide range of dishes in one sitting. Each section of the tray holds a part of the meal, from the delicious naan bread to the fragment basmati rice – creating a uniquely authentic experience. Simply pick a thali tray and a bread for just £15.25 or £16.25 and enjoy inside the captivating confines of their city centre restaurant - it’s that simple!

If you’ve got late evening plans, then they’re a great choice too. They dish up their early evening special menu from Sunday to Thursday between 5pm and 6:45pm with a choice of two or three courses. And that’s not forgetting that there’s incredible views of the Tyne bridge to enjoy while you dine as well.

Rani, Queen Street

Having cooked for royalty and Bollywood stars alike, head chef Chand at Rani brings the authentic flavours of Indian-Punjabi cuisine to Queen Street. With over thirty-five years of experience, it’s a delicious dining experience like no other. If you’ve not paid them a visit yet, then their early evening menu is definitely worth checking out – with two courses for £16.95 and three for £18.95. There’s plenty of choice for every spice tolerance (and even sweet tooths!) here, so have a gander.

SnackWallah

SnackWallah, Grainger Market
