TYNESIDE RESTAURANT’S MONSTER MEAL CHALLENGE…

REVELLERS wanting to line their stomachs before a fun night out on Tyneside can do just that, thanks to a eating challenge of epic proportions. The Dancing Pepper Mill Restaurant and Café at Scotswood Road, Newcastle has just launched its Stag Versus Food special offer, aimed at stags brave enough to tackle the region’s biggest breakfast. The bumper breakfast comprises 15 sausages, a tin of baked beans, six rashers of  bacon, six eggs, half a pound of mushrooms, six slices of black pudding, eight slices of toast and two slices of fried bread – and all the tea or coffee they can drink. The feast costs £15 per person – money that’s refunded if someone manages to eat everything on the giant size plate. “If someone manages to eat everything then they don’t only get their money back but everyone in their party gets a free drink,” said café owner, Paul Rowe. “But if they don’t manage it they have to pay – and they have to buy everyone else in their party a drink!” Although the challenge is called Stag Versus Food, Paul said that it is open to anyone one who feels confident –and hungry – enough to have a go. “We’re not restricting it so if there is anybody who feels brave enough to take it on then we’re happy to let them try,” he said. The Stag Versus Food challenge is available throughout the day at the café.
