A Perfect Pairing: Blacks Corner Arrives at the Fenwick Food Hall this Valentine's Day

FENWICK welcomes one of the region’s finest eateries, Blacks Corner, to its iconic Fenwick Food Hall. From Friday 14th February 2025, food lovers will be able to experience a curated selection of British farmhouse cheeses and artisan charcuterie, expertly paired with hand-picked organic wines at the retailer’s Newcastle flagship store on Northumberland Street.

Blacks Corner are a speciality delicatessen, eatery and wine bar, who are dedicated to sourcing from the finest local food and drink producers, ensuring every bite is of the highest quality and integrity. Their arrival at Fenwick Newcastle marks an exciting step in the brand’s ambitions for continued regional expansion, who has its flagship restaurant in East Boldon, and sister restaurant, The Tram Shelter, in Seaburn.

Jonathan Dryden, Founder at Blacks Corner commented: “Our journey has always been about celebrating the unparalleled quality of British produce. Partnering with the Fenwick Food Hall allows us to share our passion with even more people, offering them the best of farmhouse cheese, charcuterie, and wine in one of Newcastle’s most iconic food destinations.”

The collaboration between the two North East founded brands will offer a re-defined dining experience, featuring an innovative menu that showcases the best of British cheese, charcuterie and a hand-picked drinks menu. Diners will be able to indulge in a selection of British Cheese Plates, which will include highlights such as Baron Bigod Brie and Fig Relish with Honey and Crackers, Cornish Kern and Olive Tapenade Crostini with Chives on rustic bread, and Northumberland Oak Smoked Cheese with Balsamic, Hot Peppers and Chilli Crackers.

Perfectly designed for couples or groups and available for bookings and walk-ins, there will be a selection of Signature Sharing Boards available which will include the Blacks Corner Board, which features three British cured meats and three farmhouse cheeses, as well as the British Cheese Board, which offers four carefully selected farmhouse cheeses from across the UK, accompanied by delicious deli additions.

The Charcuterie plates celebrate expertly crafted meats, focusing on free-range and wild breeds to ensure the highest quality whilst prioritising ethical and sustainable sourcing. Highlights include Scottish Venison Crostini, Suffolk Pastrami Crostini with Northumberland Smoked Cheese, Sauerkraut and Honey Mustard, alongside Islington Sopressatta with Cornish Yarg and Pickled Gherkins.

Customers looking to uncover their new favourite pour can try a Blacks Corner Flight Board which offers expertly curated low-intervention and organic wine pairings catering to every taste.

Fenwick has long been a champion of independent food producers, making Blacks Corner a natural fit for its famous Food Hall. Blacks Corner will be open daily for brunch and lunch Monday to Wednesday from 9am to 7pm, Thursday from 9am to 8pm, Friday, Saturday 9am-7pm and Sundays from 10.30am to 5pm at Fenwick Newcastle, Ground Floor, 39 Northumberland St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7AS. Last seating or reservation 1 hour before closing, last drinks order 30 mins before closing.
