Newcastle beauty expert eyes up stars at Mobo Awards

A North East businesswoman wowed celebrities with luxurious eyelash lift treatments at a star-studded international music awards ceremony. Nadia Rafi, creative director at YUMILash UK, provided brow and lash treatments at the exclusive Backstage Spa at the 18th Annual Mobo Awards in the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on October 19, 2013, where there were appearances from stars such as Craig David, Ashley Banjo of Diversity, Kimberly Wyatt, Gabrielle, Katy B, Stooshe, So Solid, Ms Dynamite, Tinie Tempah, last year’s X-factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas, Iggy Azalea and Rudimental. This was the second year running that Nadia had been invited to pamper the A-listers at the event, and she showcased the YUMILash lift – an advanced Swiss technique designed to boost and lift the natural eyelash without the need for false lashes. Nadia works for Consett-based Feel Good Promotions Limited, who hold the exclusive rights to distribute the YUMILash treatment in the UK. The product was designed and developed by renowned Swiss dermapigmentologist and permanent make up expert Sandra Viglino, as an alternative to eyelash extensions, false lashes and growth serums. Sandra trained Nadia in Switzerland, and now Nadia trains salon staff across the country. Regis in Fenwick, Newcastle is the latest salon to snap up the treatment, which has already proved popular at the prestigious Urban Retreat at Harrods in London, and in a range of top salons across the UK. Nadia, who lives in Newcastle, said: “I was thrilled to be invited back to work behind the scenes at the Mobo Awards this year. It was a brilliant experience and a great platform to provide express treatments and promote the YUMILash lift, which is the ideal way to enhance the natural beauty of eyelashes in a painless, safe and non invasive way, without fiddly extensions or false lashes. “It was also great to watch some amazing performances and to meet stars such as Naughty Boy backstage, who won the MOBO awards for Best Song and Best Video.” During the 45 minute YUMILash lift treatment, eyelashes are boosted upwards, straightened to add length and volume, tinted, and conditioned using a nourishing agent. The boosting and lifting effect lasts for 8-12 weeks, which is the natural life cycle of the eyelash. The treatment also involves the application of coenzymeQ10 gel pads to the under eye area, which have anti ageing properties. Clients are offered a keratin-based mascara to take away with them to keep lashes healthy between treatments. The Swiss brand has been featured as a ‘must have lash treatment’ by Glamour magazine, and continues to grow in popularity across the globe. If it proves to be successful in Newcastle, then it will be stocked in 69 Regis salons nationwide. The cost of a YUMILash lift session is usually £60, but Regis is offering the treatment for the special price of £50 until October 31, 2013. To book, call Regis on 0191 232 0802 or visit the salon on the top floor of Fenwick.
