New Alpine Pub and Year-Round Après-Ski Cabin Lands in Newcastle-upon-Tyne This July

This July, The Prince arrives in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, debuting as an alpine pub and year-round après-ski cabin. With all the trimmings, it’s designed to transport guests to a buzzing ski palace right in the heart of the city.

Over the past five months, the owners of The Prince—the team behind Pumphreys and FRATE—have been transforming an old city centre boozer into Newcastle-upon-Tyne's only après-ski spot. This unique concept, the only one of its kind in the city, promises to bring the coolest slope-side experience to the Toon. With an atmosphere steeped in Bavarian culture, the team will be dressed in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl attire to bring an authentic pub and party experience to the venue.

From 4pm, The Prince will show all major sporting fixtures, so whether you’re coming for an after-work drink, catchup between friends, or date night with a difference, The Prince has you covered from your first drink to your last at midnight.

Inside, The Prince is laden with imported timbers and walls fully adorned with vintage skis and memorabilia. A ski gondola DJ booth will evoke memories of the slopes and the traditional touches will embody the essence of genuine après-ski moments.

Singalong disko 'til late and karaoke booths will become a Prince speciality, promising lively group celebrations and good-spirited singalongs. Live sax performances and weekend line-ups of live music will add even more vibrancy to the atmosphere, creating a venue that secures the top spot for the best après-ski parties in the city.

Whether guests are looking for midweek catchups with friends or planning a weekend celebration, everyone is invited to join dances and immerse themselves into the lively ambience and entertainment that captures the essence of the Alps inside The Prince.

From the moment guests step through the doors, a team dressed in traditional Alpine dirndl and lederhosen will warmly welcome you to the ski palace. The look and smell will thrill and swing guests straight into the mood for après-ski, whilst nostalgic videos of Winter Olympic reruns surrounded by imported authentic timber, stone fireplaces, and repurposed antler horn lights set the ambience.

Formerly known as The Green Man Newcastle, The Prince is the brainchild of new owners Robert Clarkson and Tom Byron, who have a proven track record of transforming popular venues, including Pumphrey's on the Cloth Market and the popular shipping container bar 'FRATE'.

Co-curator of The Prince Rob Clarkson told us, "We are thrilled to introduce The Prince to Newcastle, offering a unique concept that blends the charm of an Alpine Pub and all-year-round après-ski cabin with the vibrant spirit of our city. Our vision is to create a welcoming space where guests can unwind, enjoy exceptional drinks, and feel like they've been transported to the slopes of the Alps.

This venture represents an exciting new chapter as we explore a market and concept that will bring a fresh and vibrant twist to Newcastle's hospitality scene. We look forward to welcoming everyone to experience and enjoy our vision at The Prince."
