Meet the Cast Bringing Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' to Life at the Iconic Newcastle Castle Keep

This autumn, prepare to be captivated by a chilling adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, featuring a talented cast of North East actors in the haunting setting of Newcastle's Castle Keep. Directed by award-winning Jake Murray, this production will immerse audiences in the dark themes and psychological depths of Shelley's classic, delivering a unique theatrical experience in a truly historic venue.

Will Sutherland stars as Victor Frankenstein, portraying the tortured scientist whose ambitions drive him to dangerous extremes. Jamie Brown steps into the challenging role of The Creature, bringing intensity and emotion to this tragic figure brought to life by Frankenstein’s experiments. Louise Dearden takes on the role of Elizabeth Lavenza, while Ben Dixon plays Henry Clerval, Victor’s loyal friend, completing the ensemble of characters whose lives become entangled in this tale of creation, obsession, and horror.

These North East talents breathe life into Frankenstein, capturing the novel's emotional complexity and horror. Director Jake Murray, acclaimed for productions like Dickens by Candlelight and Macbeth, brings his visionary expertise to this adaptation by writer and producer Craig Wilde, known for his innovative theatrical work across the region.

Following a recent photoshoot at Newcastle's historic Castle Keep, audiences can preview the atmospheric visuals that await inside the venue's ancient stone walls. These captivating images underscore the production's gothic ambience, with the Castle Keep's grandeur setting the stage for a performance as gripping as it is atmospheric.
