January Ballot for the 2025 AJ Bell Great North Run is Now Open!
As we enter a new year and the thoughts turn to creating lifelong memories in 2025, we are excited to announce that the January ballot for the world famous AJ Bell Great North Run 2025 is now open.
The January ballot runs from Monday 6 January 2025 at 10am until Wednesday 15 January 2025 at 2pm, at which point ballot applications close.
The world’s biggest half marathon will return to the North East on Sunday 7 September 2025, and this ballot presents eager participants with a final opportunity to secure a much sought-after entry in the greatest event in the annual running calendar.

With 60,000 entrants crossing the start line, the Great North Run continues to be the greatest half marathon in the world, with many taking part to support good causes raising an estimated £25 million for charity.
The January ballot will be drawn shortly after closing with all successful applicants receiving an email to confirm their place.
The 2025 AJ Bell Great North Run will once again be broadcast live on BBC One and in over 169 territories around the world, showcasing the best of the region nationally and internationally.
