The Road to Hardwick, presented by The Newgate Social, is back for a second year, offering North East talent the chance of a lifetime—to perform on the biggest stage at Hardwick Festival 2025. Not only will one lucky band secure a slot on the Hardwick Festival main stage, but one act will land a coveted place on the festival's ever popular second stage, The Treehouse Arena, marking an exciting addition to this year’s showdown.
Last year’s champions, Camel Island and Swindled, will return with special performances at the band Semi finals, setting the bar high for this year’s contenders.
More Than Just a Gig – A Launchpad for Your Music Career
This competition isn’t just about the performance; it’s about growing as an artist. Contestants will benefit from direct feedback and advice from a panel of leading industry experts, including national music journalists, radio personalities, and record label scouts. The winning band will also receive a fully produced studio recording session, media exposure, and a tailored press campaign to kick-start their music career.
Generator Chair Dave Haley is excited about the event’s impact: “The Road to Hardwick is an incredible opportunity for emerging artists in the North East. We’re committed to championing local talent, and this competition not only gives musicians a platform to showcase their skills but also provides them with the knowledge, industry connections, and real-world experience to take their careers to the next level.”
Cheryl Flowers, Venue Manager at The Newgate Social, adds: “Last year’s competition brought an amazing energy to Newcastle’s music scene. The level of talent was exceptional, and we can’t wait to see who steps up this year. If you’re an artist with big dreams, this is your chance to make them a reality.”
