Grainger Market Welcomes Tropical New Traders to Alley 2

The Forest Boost, a Brazilian-inspired superfood offering is set to open in Alley 2 of the Grainger Market this March, marking another exciting addition to the historical Grade I listed building’s growing offer.

Owners Hugo Silva and Alessandra Caetano will offer visitors a vibrant selection of smoothies using locally sourced fresh fruit, authentic Brazilian açaí bowls, pressed juices and a range of sourdough sandwiches packed with healthy fillings.

After years of trading at regional markets and food festivals across the North East, Hugo and Alessandra are now preparing to open their first store in the Grainger Market on March 8. They join Street Food Sri Lanka, Komono and World of Sweets, who have recently begun trading following a successful year of growth for the Grainger Market.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Alessandra said: “Inspired by Brazil and its culture, The Forest Boost shop has been designed by a Brazilian Architect who will bring a little piece of our colourful home to the history and heritage of the Grainger Market.

“Growing up in Brazil, my favourite food was açaí. It only grows in the Amazon Rainforest and is a superfood that we Brazilians love because of its taste and health benefits. Açai is great for heart health, boosts energy, promotes healthy skin and even supports muscle recovery.”

Co-owner Hugo added: “The Grainger Market is at the heart of Newcastle, attracting a diverse mix of people from every corner of the globe. It’s the perfect spot to take that next step in our business journey and we can’t wait to welcome people to experience our culture, our food and our Brazilian hospitality.

“What drew us to the Grainger Market was the range of independent, local and unique businesses. Plus, the future of the Grainger Market looks amazing, and the upgrades will be a fantastic enhancement to what is already a unique destination in a beautiful city.”

Newcastle City Council has been working with Grainger Market traders and FaulknerBrowns on development plans – which are now underway - thanks to £8.2million of funding from the UK Government.

The vision is to create a space for cultural activities in the market and continue growing visitor figures while providing quality and affordable retail opportunities for independent businesses.

Lewis Smith, Newcastle City Council’s lead surveyor at Grainger Market, said: "It’s great to welcome The Forest Boost to the Grainger Market. Hugo and Alessandra’s fresh and healthy offering adds something new to our food scene, and I’m sure it will be a hit with visitors.

“The market continues to evolve, with a growing mix of independent traders bringing new energy and variety. The ongoing improvements are making a real difference, and it’s exciting to see passionate businesses choosing the market as their home."
