From Alfresco Dining to Starlite Cinema Nights and Local Street Food…

FRATE, the all-new and intimate shipping container complex that is set to open in the centre of Newcastle next Friday 26th May, has just announced details of its first collaboration with independent vendors and entertainers. Anticipated to become one of Newcastle’s favourite outdoor venues this summer, FRATE’S vibrant construction will add to the city's entertainment scene where it will play host to local street food vendors, bars, live sports and entertainment space for art and cultural events.

From mouth-watering street food, captivating outdoor cinema nights and a hub of community events. FRATE promises an unparalleled experience at the shipping container complex.

At the heart of FRATE will be a celebration of independent local talent, showcased through a curated selection of food, drinks, music, and arts. Two independent food vendors, BABS [A popup kebab and mezze street food kitchen] and SLICE BOYS [A popup pizza Kitchen] will take centre stage, tantalizing taste buds with their diverse street food menus.

BABS Newcastle will serve grilled chicken, lamb, and halloumi kebabs, grilled over open flames and served in toasted tortilla wraps or naked on top of a bowl of salad. For those seeking extra indulgence, sides available include their mouth-watering posh fries, hot wings and their special grilled halloumi.

SLICE BOYS will be offering pizza by the slice and in full 16" that include classic combinations as well as daring, unconventional flavours that push the boundaries of culinary creativity. Both vendors will also offer lunchtime deals, providing a perfect midday treat for diners.

Guests at FRATE will be able to enjoy alfresco dining complemented with creative drinks that elevate the taste and guest experience at the shipping container complex.

Going beyond gastronomy, FRATE is embracing a multifaceted entertainment experience, by hosting local DJ sets, live music and showing all big live sports events from football to rugby and seasonal events such as Wimbledon.

FRATE also aspires to foster community engagement through hosting various events and workshops, including; outdoor cinema nights, record fayres and vintage clothing markets. For those seeking something a little different, yoga classes will be something the open-air venue is looking to deliver.

Visitors to FRATE will find themselves in a fully heated, fairy-lit oasis, open every day until 2am. The venue's commitment to providing an all-encompassing experience makes it an ideal destination for any time of day, whether indulging in pizza by the slice or savouring mezze street food.

Co-Curator of Frate, Rob Clarkson told us: “We are thrilled to finally unveil Frate Newcastle next week and share this extraordinary concept with the people of the North East. We have worked tirelessly to create a space where people can come together, indulge, socialise and immerse themselves in our great city.”

“Prepare for an unforgettable journey at Frate Newcastle, where each visit promises to be an adventure filled with culinary delights, captivating performances, and a true sense of community. Mark your calendars for Friday, May 26th, 2023, as we embark on this exciting new venture together.”
