Enter NE1’s Christmas Windows Competition to Be in with a Chance of Winning £250

NE1’s Newcastle's Christmas Windows are returning in 2022 and we’re asking budding artists to submit a design to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize.

Since 2020, NE1 has teamed up with artists, designers and students from across the region each year to bring some Christmas cheer to the people of Newcastle by animating the windows of units across the city centre with festive artworks.

In 2021, 30 windows at 7 sites across Newcastle were brought to life with Christmas-themed artwork created by a talented group of individuals including Lish Draws Life, Laura Scribbles, Creative Ginger, Emilie de Black and Amber Bruzzi. Featuring everything from Christmas decorations and iconic local landmarks to scenes from festive films, the eye-catching and vibrant designs helped bring the city streets to life.

This year, NE1 are holding a competition for local creatives to submit a design and see their own artwork come to life in a Christmas Window.

Winning designs will be printed, installed and displayed in shopfronts across the city centre and will remain in place throughout December with each winner receiving a cash prize of £250.

Entrants are encouraged to be as creative as they want, but submitted designs must be related to Christmas and must be scalable to ensure they fit to their allocated window. Designs should also avoid political statements or anything that could be construed as offensive.

Entrants are invited to submit their designs as a PDF or JPG file by 12pm on 15 November 2022 to [email protected].
