DOOD Restaurant Brings Persian-Levantine Feasting Culture to Newcastle Quayside
This November, Newcastle’s iconic Quayside will welcome DOOD, a bold new restaurant concept that celebrates the rich culinary traditions of the Persian and Levantine regions. Drawing on the vibrant cultures of the Silk Route, DOOD offers an immersive dining experience that blends timeless flavours with aged sophistication.
The restaurant’s interior, designed by award-winning London-based studio Run For The Hills, reflects the nomadic heritage of the Silk Road, creating a luxurious yet evocative setting where guests can gather to enjoy shared feasting. The design merges ancient influences with contemporary touches, promising diners an unforgettable journey through time and taste.
DOOD’s kitchen will be led by renowned chef Colin Clague, whose illustrious career spans Michelin-starred kitchens and world-class restaurants. Born on the Isle of Man, Clague was inspired by his mother’s passion for cooking and local produce, driving him to pursue a global culinary career. His experience includes working with icons such as Anton Mosimann and Peter Langan, as well as leading the opening of Dubai’s prestigious Burj Al Arab.
Clague’s role in the pre-opening teams of celebrated restaurants like Zuma (London and Dubai), Jean-Georges Dubai, and Michelin-starred Pollen by Jason Atherton has earned him international acclaim. His ingredient-driven, flavour-focused approach to cooking ensures that the menu at DOOD will be both elevated and authentic, celebrating the best of Persian and Levantine cuisine with simplicity and finesse.
"We’re thrilled to bring this unique dining concept to Newcastle," says Clague. "The history and culture of the Silk Road offer endless inspiration, and at DOOD, we’re using the finest ingredients to create a menu that’s as exciting and varied as the regions it draws from."
DOOD’s menu will feature an array of dishes, from mezze and grilled meats to vibrant plant-based options, all designed to be shared in the spirit of communal feasting. Whether for a casual meal or a special occasion, DOOD promises an extraordinary experience that connects diners with the rich flavours and stories of the Middle East.
DOOD opens for reservations on 18 November.
