Cook up a Storm Alongside My Delhi in Aid of Charity

Fans of one of the North East’s top Indian restaurants can now get the inside track on how to prepare some of their best-loved dishes at home – and help children’s heart charity, CHUF at the same time.

My Delhi, which has eateries in both Sunderland and Newcastle, is one of the region’s go-to places for authentic and delicious Indian food.

And now the restaurant is hosting a live charity cook along this weekend - Sunday 10 November – with all the proceed going to support CHUF.

Nitin Kumar, one of the restaurant’s top chefs will demonstrate live at noon via My Delhi’s Instagram and Facebook accounts - @mydelhistreetery – how to make a homestyle chicken curry and pulao rice.

Anyone wanting to take part needs to sign up in advance at Eventbrite after which they will be sent a list of ingredients, utensils and preparation details so they are all ready to go when the session starts.

Along with being able to follow the recipe alongside the chef, participants will learn a range of techniques, top cooking tips and also hear about the culture of Indian cooking.

Everyone who signs up is asked to make a donation with all of the money going to support the important charity.

Elahi Shah Amin, director of My Delhi which also has a branch in Leicester, is delighted to have come up with this unique way to support such a good cause.

“We know how many people love our food so we thought what better way to help CHUF than by sharing some of our top tips and showcase how you can cook an authentic curry at home,” he said.

“Everyone will receive all of the information they need so they can be prepared before they join the cook-along online, which we hope will be a lot of fun and something they will enjoy.

“And of course when it’s finished not only will they have helped a great charity but they can also then tuck into a delicious dish which they’d have prepared themselves.

“It’s so important for us to help support the local community and we hope this original and fun way of doing that will be something lots of people will want to take part in.”
