Comic Con Returns Next Weekend to Utilita Arena Newcastle!

After the outstanding success of Monopoly Events’ April 2024 convention, Comic Con is officially bursting back onto the North East scene next week, arriving at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October 2024.

As the original curators of Europe’s now biggest and most popular fan convention, Monopoly Events provide fans with unrivalled access to a whole host of their favourite screen celebrities as well as an exciting medley of cosplay, gaming and all-round fun!

From special guest appearances to cosplay masquerades, Comic Con North East is a real celebration of all things pop culture and is set to attract thousands of fans over the Halloween weekend. 

Across two action-packed days, the event will truly offer something for everyone – with retro and modern gaming areas, photo opportunities and a huge array of traders and artists offering the perfect shopping experience for souvenirs. Fans can also expect everyone to be getting into the Halloween spirit … and there’s even a horror-themed after-party! 

Andy Kleek, CEO of Monopoly Events commented: “The team cannot wait to return to Newcastle – it’s such a vibrant city and the pop culture fans there deserve a flagship Comic Con event. We are putting our all into making this one our very best yet!”.

What to expect from Comic Con North East:-

  • Celebrity Guests: Comic Con always promises a huge range of star guests! There will be photo ops, meet and greets* and autograph sessions throughout the weekend.   • Interactive Workshops: Participate in workshops led by industry professionals covering topics such as cosplay crafting, comic book writing and special effects makeup! 
  • Panels: Featuring discussions with all of the celebrity guests throughout each day where fans will have the opportunity to step up to the mic and ask them a question. 
  • Artist Alley: Explore this special area where talented artists showcase their work and have unique, one-of-a-kind pieces for sale! 
  • Exhibitor Hall: Our exhibitor area will be filled with vendors selling comics, collectables, apparel and much more. 
  • Cosplay: Show off your creativity and compete in our highly anticipated cosplay contest! For those not wanting to partake in the contest, why not show your cosplay off anyway and come dressed to impress! 
  • Gaming Zone: Shut yourself off from the world and enter our gaming zone where you can play the latest video games, board games and tabletop RPGs. 
  • Family-Friendly Activities: Comic Con North East is an event for all ages, with a real sense of community where families can enjoy a variety of activities including kids cosplay and drawing workshops. 

Organisers have confirmed a stellar line-up of guests across both days including Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries), Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), Michelle Gomez (Bad Education), Kristian Nairn (Game of Thrones), Mark Williams (Harry Potter), Emma Caulfield (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2), Rob Wiethoff (Red Dead Redemption) and Brutus Beefcake (WWF).

The list goes on to include other big-name stars joining the fun on the Sunday only, including Pearl Mackie (Doctor Who), Ralf Little (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps), Will Mellor (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) and Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey), with the Saturday line-up also set to feature Paul Blackthorne (The Dresden Files), Oliver Watson (Wednesday) and Iman Marson (Wednesday).
