Banksy: Power, Pulp, Protest exhibition opens at Hancock Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, Offering Iconic Artwork for Sale from a Prominent Private Collection

Three new iconic Banksy prints titled Monkey Queen, Pulp Fiction and Turf War are now available for viewing and purchase at Hancock Gallery situated in the heart of Newcastle city centre.

The collection titled Banksy - Power, Pulp, and Protest is the second installment of Banksy artwork to be featured at the gallery.

Gallery Manager, Chris Morgan, said: “It’s been a real privilege to grow our existing collection of iconic Banksy artwork here at Hancock Gallery. It gives the people of the North East a chance to access work by one of the UK’s most well known artists.”

The pieces are available to purchase for both local and international collectors, each with an incredible backstory. The collection comes directly from one of the founders of Pictures on Walls, the sole publisher of Banksy between 2002 and 2017. The collection comes with a unique story and presents an exceptional opportunity.

Banksy’s early works explode with irreverent critiques of authority and power. Monkey Queen (2003) blends the recognisable royal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with a monkey’s face, critiquing power and identity, the original artwork this print is taken from setting a record £14.4 million sale for NHS charities.

With Turf War, Banksy reimagines Churchill with a turf mohawk as a symbol of rebellion, while Pulp Fiction swaps pistols for bananas in a cheeky tribute to Andy Warhol. Each piece highlights his talent for blending humor, subversion and biting commentary, making his art a powerful statement on culture, politics, and identity.
