Newcastle Mela is a fantastic annual event celebrating South Asian culture that takes place during the August bank holiday weekend

Immerse yourself in the incredible, vibrant atmosphere as up to 40,000 visitors come into Newcastle to join in on celebrations which have taken place for 30 years.
Mela showcases everything from entertainers to flavourful food, clothes and crafts and activities. Discover some incredible local circus acts and dance artists.
Taking place in Exhibition Park over the August bank holiday weekend, the main event includes both international and local acts to recognise the multi-cultural celebration.
Before the main event, Mela in the City takes place by Grey's Monument where visitors will find a host of performers, including dancers and drummers as well as workshops and activities to get involved in.
