Newcastle's Christmas
Get ready to experience the magic of Christmas in Newcastle like never before
In partnership with Newcastle City Council, the city centre will once again transform into a winter wonderland with stunning festive lights, enchanting Christmas Markets, and a brand-new Christmas Village bringing holiday cheer to everyone.
Running from 16th November to 22nd December 2024, and open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays, the Christmas Markets will feature a dazzling mix of creative crafters, bakers, and scrumptious street food, with over 95% of traders being local to region! And, of course, the magnificent 10-metre Christmas tree is back to light up the city centre, adding an extra sprinkle of festive charm! Last year over 1.3 million people visited the markets and this year, we expect even more people to enjoy the magic of the city.
New for 2024
Newcastle Christmas Village - Located in Old Eldon Square, the new family-friendly Christmas Village offers something for everyone: join Santa and friends for Santa Stories, learn festive skills at Elf School, watch a holiday film at the Rockin' Reindeer Stage, or take a spin on the classic vintage carousel. Complete with famous local food stalls also around the square, this magical village is set to become a new family favourite.
The North Pole - Want to soak in the seasonal spirit with the best views over the Christmas Markets? This year the wonderful team from EVNT Inspirations have designed luxurious igloos for visitors to enjoy on one of the city’s much-loved landmarks. Based on the plinth of the Grey’s Monument these pre-bookable pods make for an unforgettable experience in one of the city’s most iconic spots.
Throughout the season, the city centre will come alive with Christmas carollers, street performers, and joyful activities to surprise and delight. Whether it’s a festive family day out or an evening with friends, Newcastle’s Christmas celebrations offer something for everyone. Make it a December to remember, create lasting memories, and join us as we celebrate the season with magic around every corner.
